Loved Johnny Klug, as a Woodville supporter we lost Andrew Taylor to the Bears in 88 but Klug stepped into the CHF role just nicely, different style of player and far different personality.

Andrew Taylor was an absolute larrikin, I recall him getting interviewed on the telly standing there with only a polo shirt on and standing in then middle of the change rooms starkers singing Caravan of Love at the top of his voice.

My brother in law was the club physio and good mates with Tayls and Loco back in the day- Cracking blokes and funny bastards! Anytime the sis and hubby had parties those two were always there, but their clothes weren't there as often

I see Barrett is starting something with Wines going to Melbourne on his sliding doors column this week. Interesting to see how this one plays out.
Would you trade him and if so, what would you want back?

I can’t remember who(read it yesterday) but someone suggested a straight swap for Fantasia.

Cornes raised it over the bye weekend and it's snowballed.

Wines, his management and Port have categorically denied it.

Would I trade him? No, so the next part is a moot point.

Mathew Lloyd, was so Essendon biased it wasn't funny. "Essendon get an inside mid bull, leadership, etc etc Port get some pace"

**** off Lloydy. And when has a Lloyd ever been called "Lordo"?

Wines, Ebert, Powell-Pepper, Boak, Rockcliff - all inside mids really (they have slight differences but would all be in the same broad category).

I don't want to see the club trade Wines, but I don't have an issue with it being considered.

I'd love a mid that could hit a target.

Whilst we've got several inside mids on the list :

Wines - 24, co-captain, 3 years to run on a deal that has him one of our top paid players

Rockliff - 30, two years to go on a deal. Pay sliding.

SPP - 1 year to go on a deal, dropped twice this year.

Atley - 1 year to go on a deal, 4 games in 3 years.

Drew - 1 year to go on a deal, 10 games in 3 years.

Wines is the last one I'm trading out of that list. Nobody would want Rockliff, SPP might have some interest in WA next year and we'd only need to keep Atley or Drew as Wines/Rockliff aren't going anywhere anytime soon so there's time to develop another.

Ebert more forward and Boak more outside.

Hitting target's isn't Wines' job, sure I'd like him to execute better but he's there to be on the bottom of the pack, not delivering inside 50.

Who captains next year if they go back to one captain?
Jonas or Wines?

Agreed.
My point was we don't have someone effective at hitting an inside 50 kick, and there is a plethora of inside mids. Giving up one of them to get something we are clearly deficient in isn't the worst strategy IMO.
Wines generally does his job, so not the first one I'd look to move on, but as you say, guys like Powell Pepper and Rockliff don't have the currency to get a quality ball user in return.

Houston and Duursma have just played their first year in the midfield, I expect Farrell to play more midfield minutes next year while Rozee might be the R.Gray replacement of fwd 70 / mid 30 in a year or two.

Putting Boak, R.Gray and Rockliff aside the longer term midfield mix of Wines, Drew, Houston, Duursma, Farrell, Rozee looks more balanced inside/out.

I think Wines will be a one club player.

VERY interupted season injury wise.

Putting aside the skiing incident, kicked in the leg and broken, thumb caught in a tackle and broken. Just bad luck.

Damian Barrett also calls Matthew Lloyd 'Lordo' on the AFL's Access All Areas show.

Ollie Wines’ manager has “unequivocally” shut down suggestions the Port Adelaide co-captain could be “gettable” during the upcoming AFL trade period.

Nick Gieschen has told The Advertiser:

“It’s unequivocally not happening … 100 per cent.

“It’s not even worth discussing.

“Ollie loves it there, he’s captain, loves the group and loves Kenny … and Port love him.

“It was obviously a difficult year with injury but he’s really excited by next year and really keen to bounce back and lead the boys next year.”
