Unbelievable how they continue to recruit players!!

No wonder my club is at the bottom.
We lose 3 players to the AFL and are running on a reduced salary cap.

Norwood have recruited Johnston (North), McKenzie (Nth Melb), Talia (Swans), Hamilton (WB reserves) and Barry in the last 3 years IIRC - other ex-AFL players on our list were Norwood boys to begin with (Shelton, Grigg, Panos etc). We’ve lost a lot of well paid premiership players in that time too with more to come. My club has done plenty of stupid things over the years, but given the size of the target on their backs at West Lakes surely we wouldn’t be stupid enough to flout the cap??

You can play the victim card all you like, but your problems aren’t any other clubs doing .. The Bays could have done the same given their perilous financial state in recent times but instead they dug in and turned it around. Good example for all clubs.

didn't the council let the Bays off to the tune of around a mill??

TBH I don't know mate. Thought they may have given them assistance by way of improved re-payment terms, but have never really heard much about it.

First I've heard of that (not saying you're wrong), when did that happen mate?

Think that reduction was squashed by the SANFL pretty quickly when Norworrd voted YES to the AFL reserves sides coming in. (they were originally a strong NO)

Nice little sweeter by the SANFL.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

I think Norwood's was imposed after a salary breach. However, yes, if my memory is correct, it was overturned when Norwood caved in and allowed the Power and Crows Reserves teams in.

To be fair, I think there was a stick, as well as a carrot to think about when the backflip occurred. Maybe one day more details about what happened might be revealed. For the rumours, maybe throw the term "construction" into the search bar on the "No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread", and there might be a hit.
Just speaking from memory, I haven't gone back to check it yet myself.

Try being honest about this just for ONCE. Norwood have been rorting the salary cap as long as there has been one. Disregard for any other club is fair enough BUT this is blatant and the SANFL continue to allow it. Olsen and his board WILL NOT act responsibly and investigate. How can 1 club have 14 paid receptionists that just happen to be engaged/married to current players. "Salary cap rort" Nah not on the Parade !!

Could perhaps take a contender for "Mark of the Century" while at it?
