Simple, don’t nominate for the draft. No one is forcing you to play AFL

The current system doesn't let them nominate a club as a 18yo, but as a 20yo after 2 years service you can go your hardest and nominate and more often than not get there.

The system is stuffed, time to bring in a 4 year min contract for the top 30 draftee's?

I dont think any cat fans will begrudge kelly for seeking a trade to be closer to family, he gave his all during his time at geelong especially this year when he could have sooked it up. If however he is only willing to deal with WCE despite Freo (potentially) having a much better deal then thats poor form from kelly and geelong should remind him that gold coast have pre season draft pick #1.

Freo should be having a bit of fun with this scenario, you would think they would have more cap space than WCE so could offer him a better deal,, they have better picks to trade with the Cats and they have the better draft pick to leverage if he slipped thru to the draft.

Gold Coast couldnt fit him in their cap, if he goes to the draft he nominates his salary.

Look at Dangerfield to Geelong, Polec to Port, Judd to Carton. It's all the same, now Kelly to West Coast oohhh that's different it should either WA team.

Not salty at all about the Kelly trade because as you have pointed out plenty have gone the other way and he doesn't want to play for our club. But comparing Dangerfield to Kelly is a logic bomb of the highest order. Dangerfield didn't want to come home after two years after Geelong overlooked him in several drafts. Geelong is entitled to seek the best possible outcome for the trade and would be negligent if they did not do so. It has nothing to do with the great WA conspiracy that's rattling around in your head.
