The Lion King

Watched it last night, thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn't enjoy Beyonce as Nala but the rest of the new voices were fantastic. Few little changes to dialogue in places to freshen it up.

Not as good as the original obviously but still a great fun watch with amazing graphics.

Apollo 11.

Amazing documentary of the moon landing, taken from previously unreleased archival footage. No narration or taking heads, just the sounds of the control centre, the astronauts, some news-anchor voice overs from the day, and well composed soundtrack. Conveys the tensions and excitement of the launch and the lunar landing.

Unfortunately, I hear its only got a limited cinema release, but if you're into this stuff or a fan of docos generally, then do yourself a favour (quickly!).

Saw Tarantino's latest film "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" over the weekend.

Definitely worth a look, but it is quite long (2 hours forty minutes). Like all Tarantino flicks there's a lot of style, and in this case it probably overshadows the substance of the film. That said, he does style really well, and in this case he does what I can only imagine is a great job of recreating LA and Hollywood in 1969. There's a great scene where Brad Pitt's character fights Bruce Lee on a movie set, and the climax is typically very violent.

Went to see Ride like a Girl today, knew the story and obviously the outcome, but a great movie and well worth a watch, even if you aren't a racing fan.

Watched Taxi Driver last night, apparently the new Joker film takes alot of inspiration from it so I had to see it. It's a pretty full on movie, now I plan to watch some more Martin Scorsese films.

It's very similar with the nihilistic tone and at times brutally violent one of Scorsese's guys was involved in it and he himself was involved at one point but dropped out due to scheduling.

These guys are pretty big Scorsese fans ;)

Scorsese is the man. Casino would have to be one of my favourite movies of all time.
So you've seen everything have you?

Whilst not as dark as Taxi Driver, make sure you out check out ”Goodfellas”. A great mob movie (based on true events IIRC) with a sensational soundtrack.

Also, Raging Bull is pretty raw, and The Last Temptation of Christ is good given it was pretty controversial upon its release.

The King of Comedy is also a good Scorsese film to watch if you going to watch The Joker,

While you're on the mobster theme, 'The Irishman' is a good flick. It's based on a book written about Jimmy Hoffa. I only watched because Pacino and De Niro are in it, but it was quite enjoyable (3.5 hours long!!) over a couple of nights.
I apologise.

I enjoyed it, took me a few sittings to get through it though, but you can never really go wrong with De Niro, PAcino and Pesci in a gangster flick

Joe Pesci in particular was top notch, not his normal gangster role but he deadset nailed it.
