Eden Gardens choc full for a Test is one of Crickets greatest sights. Fantastic atmosphere and was insane when it used to hold 35k more before seating.

Strange start to the NZ v England Test, very sedate. Why Root didn't open up with Archer has me stuffed, especially after he clunked Nicholls in the helmet late yesterday.

They didn’t play Night tests here because there was a good chance they would get rolled. Funny how they wait until they play Bangladesh at home until they play it...

BJ Watling is a good player, tidy keeper and gritty as hell with the bat. Santner looked ugly but stuck it out.

It’s embarrassing that they decline to play a night test in Australia and within 6-7 months they have scheduled a night Test at home. Hypocrisy at its highest level. At the end of the day they knew we would be far harder to beat if the ball was doing a bit as it would have taken away any advantage that they would have had with the bat when we didn’t have Smith or Warner in the line up.

Initially they wanted nothing to do with Day/Night test cricket especially at home and that's because they were scared they would get rolled at home with the pink ball generating more movement in the night time conditions.

Agree they have waited until they are not so reliant on a spin attack before being willing to play day night tests.

Got to give them credit for always putting their nations result first when making administrative decisions.

I don’t agree with that myself. The worlds greatest ever teams would play you anywhere, anytime and couldn’t give a shit what you dished up. They would go out there and you would have to continuously be at your best to beat them. India with this approach will never be the single dominant force in World Cricket like Australia and the West Indies have been in the past because you can weave and dodge all you want, however there are stages where you will have no choice but to play on decks and conditions which don’t suit and then you’ll get caught with your pants down....

Watling doubled up. By far the best keeper batsmen in the world, knows his limitations and sticks to what hes good at.

Kiwis 9/603, Archer has bowled his most overs ever. With only around 3 days turnaround before the next Test it will be interesting to see how he pulls up.
