The annual Geminid meteor shower will put on a spectacular light show this weekend and will peak around 5:10am Sunday morning in South Australia.

"In their best peak times they produce from 100 to 140 or 150 meteors per hour," Macquarie University astrophysicist Tayyaba Zafar said.

The Geminids are one of the most colourful meteor showers as they are produced by the dust and debris left behind from an asteroid. As they burn up in our atmosphere, their colour varies depending on their chemical composition.

If I get to see that I'm going to be in a mountain of trouble again.

This is the last of a 6 week Saturday streak where we've had functions that have resulted in my Sundays being pretty much redundant, there were a couple of all nighters amongst them much to the wife's disgust.

Some holidays soon. Finish up on Monday lunchtime off to the pub. Xmas day in Melbourne as daughter is working until 10pm Xmas eve. Boxing Day eat leftovers and pack the car. 27th that bloody drive back to Adelaide. Then staying over for a week, catch up with my son, see a couple of his games T/20’s, before flying back to Melbourne Jan 5th. Mrs C staying on as we prepare to sell our old house... that’s a bit sad, but it’s time to move on. Then back to Asia for 2 weeks work end of Jan.....

Things that you are looking forward to

Heading to Auckland for a few days middle of Jan for some R&R.
November to early January is both of our busiest times of the year and we normally head to Asia around the middle of Jan for a break but some award flights become available to Auckland so we are going to head there instead

His levels are improving, the hospital tried to organise a transfer to Adelaide but the WCH said they wouldn’t accept him unless we got a medivac flight at the cost of $40K, they will refuse to treat him if we take a commercial flight.
It has really broken us today, it’s the first time I’ve seen him cry since my dad passed away, he’s usually so stoic.

Poor kid! How can they refuse to treat him? That’ll be unethical surely?

Any idea how much longer you’ll need to be up there?

Would the insurance from the Volleyball trip cover his flight back?

Because they have recommended him not to fly despite what this hospital have said, there is no timeline yet, it’s a wait and see every day, hoping to be home for Christmas at this stage.
Being a school organised volleyball trip one would’ve thought there was travel insurance, apparently not though, I never seen the consent forms, his mum signed them.

If there’s still no plan in place tomorrow I’ll have to ring the department of education and see if they can assist, when your kid goes away on a school trip you expect them to return home with the group.

Apparently not, speaking to a mum here who required her son to be rescued from the ocean she got charged $55K for the rescue, had travel insurance but they are refusing to foot the bill.

Cheers.
