Funding is being pumped into female cricket, that's all well and good, I have two young daughters who may want to pay one day, but for large towns like Two Wells and Clare to be fumbling for a senior men's cricket side, Australia's national game in the summer, is farcical.

Have to agree that funding and facilities play a large part. Can only speak from the Blyth/Kybunga experience, but since the getting new nets the player participation and excitement levels have easily doubled which this year is starting to translate to the field. Definitely helped entice good and experienced players such as Ben and Will Pratt Along with young guns Will Harris And Brayden Eime back to the Club.

It’s a credit to everyone involved out at Blyth/Kybunga that they continually put two competitive senior sides out on the park each week. Can’t be easy drawing mainly from one small town. Good to see them up and about!

The day was a 3 way comp with a league points table in the end each team won a game so it was decided by NRR

We lost to Spalding thanks to great batting efforts by a couple of theirs and 4 overs in particular of bad bowling.

South Gawler flogged Spalding by over 70 runs

We then beat South Gawler with four overs to spare and missed out on winning the day by 0.2 NRR or 5 balls apparently.

That was our first competitive t20 game as a playing group so we were really happy with our performance considering south play them regularly and Spalding has played a couple of internals apparently

Looking like a reasonably tight comp at the moment. Despite lower North it looks like any team can make the 4.

Absolutely

Don’t show up to play and you will lose, we have learnt that a bit this year

Depends on how often Mitchell plays but i would have them as the most unlikely out of the sides.

Oddly enough we have found Watervale a much more difficult opponent than Auburn over the last couple of years so i would have them as more of a chance.

Anything could happen this season though so i wouldn't rule them out just yet.

Tight finish coming up. 5 teams fighting for the last 3 finals spots.

Can't believe no exact decision has been made as yet as to whether they will play the washed out games in the week off between the end of the minor round and the finals starting.

Surely that decision has to be made asap.

At the start of the year it was decided that apparently there would be a 'spare' week so that if all game in a round got called off it could be used to replay them.

Speaking to teammates on the weekend in the know they didnt seem that was so certain to happen though.

Having a week off before finals is ridiculous IMO. There’s a few things the association needs to sort out going forward.

Yeah I tend to agree

I don’t mind the reasoning that we’re going to use it for a total round wipe out but the fact we are 3 weeks away and they apparently don’t know if it will be used is a farce. Already teams on the weekend said they will side or if required vote with the option that best suits the result they need on this issue.

This upcoming round will be the last one. Watervale voted against the extra round being used as the law written in was that it would be used for 'heated out' games, not washed out games.

I see if you win you should finish 2nd, lose you miss the 4. Whats the finals set up? 1v2 and 3v4 with a prelim final?

Yeah your correct.

It's the SANFL system with only 4. 1v 2 get a double chance, whilst 3 v 4 play an elimination. Winner of 1 v 2 straight into the GF, the loser plays the winner of 3 v 4. Highest ranked team gets home finals.

I've never seen this system used in cricket before but tbh it works pretty well and gives serious meaning to all minor round games as each spot in the fourth has added value.

I like Stanley finals system. 1 & 2 deserve the double chance, especially in one day cricket where you can have an off day and get rolled

Is the Prelim on the sunday or does the winner of 1v2 have to have a week off? That would be the downside to it, especially with no one playing the week before finals, that's just ludicrous, crickets a game you want to keep playing
