Article makes a couple of errors and essentially omits several key points:

- Morrison ignored NSW fire chiefs who warned of unprecedented fire danger.
- Ignored calls for new water bombers (National coordinating body presented business case 18 months ago, Labor made election commitment 9 months ago)
- failed to seek international help (US Forest Service has 8 water bomber converted C130s that would have been available within 24 hours)

He stood up in his presser and lied again today, suggesting that lack of hazard reduction and arson were to blame (peddling facebook conspiracy theories essentially) and continues to live in his climate science denial bubble.

His incompetence and apathy is rightly being condemned.

Ah yes, cogent criticism of incompetence is a "leftard" agenda. Great contribution.

For starters, Australian's emissions have risen when you, correctly, exclude LULUCF.

He deserves to be bashed for his tin-eared and insensitive social media post from yesterday. Not only because of its content and timing, but because it bore a link to the Liberal Party website and a request to donate to it. Everyone knows where donations at tragic time time should be directed, and it's not into the coffers of political parties.

As for judgment, political or otherwise, Morrison and his staff have none of it. Right now he'd be flat out trying to judge Red Faces.

What's LULUCF?

Good question. I posted this to my FB timeline a month ago:

I see a lot of misinformation re. agriculture, meat & climate change.

If you focus on Australian production, since the 2005 Kyoto base year, our Ag emissions have declined by 9.3% (which shits all over any other sector).

Our LULUCF - land use, land use change & forestry, ie. the balance between greenhouse gas emissions (eg. land clearing) and sinks that remove CO2 from the atmosphere and sequester it as carbon (eg. revegetation & grazing land & cropland management that reduces emissions) - became a CO2 sink in 2018! Aus ag now has negative emissions (-22Mt CO2), whereas in 2005 it was +82Mt CO2.

In other words, Aussie meat is not bad for the environment. Eat it.

(FYI, apparently to vegans am a RWNJ when when I discuss the above and point out the very big difference to long term atmospheric warming that methane has compared to CO2)

Essentially LULUCF has been excluded from emissions targets because of it's complexity and difficulty in separating anthropogenic effects from very variable natural background emissions and removals.

Social Media is a binfire of fake news (Greens Party prevented Hazard Reduction) and whack conspiracy theories (NSW fires are coordinated arson attack to bring in a reign of socialism), but venting about an inept PM is a disgrace?

If our esteemed traditional fourth estate wasn't just a bunch of stenograph journalists writing LNP press releases as news and instead held MPs accountable for things they do and say, maybe people wouldn't feel the need to speak up (has Alan Jones called for Scotty from Marketing to be put in a chaff bag and thrown out to sea yet?).

I admit Bette Midler probably once played a smart person in a movie but, in the climate debate, I’m told we must listen to our scientists

I did check: he hasn’t got an FB page so probably not part of the conspiracy

Yeah, a lot of people are confusing the Greens Party with the "greenies" who stopped the hazard reduction in the Gippsland

I remember it was about 6 or 7 years ago I was driving through Chain of Ponds & people we're arguing about doing the hazard reduction there because it would kill too many spiders & snakes. I rang the Leon Byner program (as did a lot of people) & said that if they don't do it & a fire goes through, more than just the spiders & snakes would be killed. Sure enough, the Sampson flat fire went through & destroyed all around Chain of Ponds.

I don't agree with the people blaming him for these fires but he has totally stuffed up in the handling of it.

One thing I hate is hypocrisy, in 09 when the black Saturday fires went through Victoria he was the 1st to bag the lady (can't remember her name) for going to a pub for dinner during that crisis, then during the height of the current crisis he goes to Hawaii.

Not getting the planes currently sitting idle in Canada or wherever is just crazy. We should be leasing the entire fleet (or maybe go halves in the fleet), keep them in Australia for 6 months of the year & leave them in the northern hemisphere for 6 months of the year. I'm sure we used to do it with the helicopters
