The Lyon one today was no different than if the batsman was off by another centimetre and totally missed it - either way it's the delivery beating the batsman that led to the wicket. Would be the same if it had nicked his pad instead of the bat.

A bit weird that it's only a stumping if it's the keeper but it would be extremely rare that first slip has enough time to throw you out but you didn't intend to run.

I recall years ago a silly mid off slapped the ball back on to the stumps while the batsman was still in his shot playing stance and there was confusion to what the dismissal was given the he hadn’t attempted a run.

Anyone else sick and tired of all the crapping on about Wagner?

The tactics he employs slows the game down as scoring is almost impossible, sure he's got Smith a couple of times yet we've still thumped them twice and look set to hand them their arses on a plate again in the next day or so.

Then we hear how much of a fighter he is and he throws his wicket away yesterday with a shocking shot to Lyon. Give me a break.

They've fallen to pieces like every pretender who has arrived on our shores has in the past. They came here ranked #2 in the world, ready to challenge us and they've been nothing short of ordinary with bat and ball and clearly they've got no depth. Raval can't play (hasn't got past 33 in 1st class cricket since February 2019 and he's in their Test team!) they've got 4 keepers in the side plugging gaps as well as Raval, must have plenty of batters coming through the domestic comp, Henry for some reason gets picked ahead of Southee ( Henry has 28 Test wickets at 49 and goes at over 3 an over ) and Astle gives all park leggies some hope.

Definitely not... He isn't a batsmen... Bowled an absolute treat this summer. His stats the past 12 months are just about as good as anyone's.

204 wickets at 26 isn't anything to sneeze at, I agree, but.....of his 204 wickets 93 of them have come at the expense of Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Sri Lanka. His 33 wickets @ 18 against Bangladesh and 11 wickets @ 17 against Zimbabwe brings his over all average down.

Against Australia, England, India and South Africa ( the stronger nations ) he has 99 wickets at a nudge over 29. Good, but worthy of his rectum being filled with smoke every 5 minutes?

His strike rate of 51 could probably be much better if his tactics weren't so negative and given he busts his arse bowling 125km/h bumpers all day I can't see that method being sustainable for him.

Can he play? Yep, he's got some skills. Is he being talked up waaaaay too much? Abso- **** lutely.

He is the only one that can go back over the ditch with his head held high.

Blundell and Latham are the only other two that would exceed a C+ for the touring squad, possibly the Groundhog would be on the cusp.

Agreed, he's done all he can for his team with the ball in hand and can't help that the rest of his team have been poor. Whilst the way he bowls and gets wickets isn't what we consider 'good' cricket it gets the job done, he's consistently picked up wickets and that's all you can ask for. You have to respect him for his consistent execution and ability to back up and do it each test match.

Don't get sucked into how the commentators carry on.

NZ as a whole though have been f**king pathetic, irrespective of the test rankings I certainly thought and hoped they would of performed alot better in this series.
Resting Southee due to his heavy workload is ridiculous. Seeing him on TV sitting there in his whites with the blue vest on pissed me off, he's one of there best bowlers and if fit should be playing irrespective of the series result, there's still test match championship points to play for now.

His numbers against Australia are very good and his career strike rate is also very good. He's managed to back up and sustain his method and execution each test bowling alot of overs in this series and will be interesting to see if he can sustain it in the future.

Gotta be able to make runs away from home or when the pitches actually do something ...

Huh?

Warner has 24 hundreds ,16 of them in Australia's first innings of the match.

4 innings per match his numbers are ( when batting in the innings )

1st - 2672 at 58
2nd - 1605 at 44
3rd - 1837 at 43
4th - 1042 at 43

Literally debunks your downhill theory in every sense.

In Australia, in 2nd innings.

Averages 60 in South Africa which is often the most bowler friendly place there is.
Poor record in England no doubt but there wouldn’t be many blokes ever who averaged 65 in Australia, that is quite remarkable especially for an opener. For comparison Smith averages 55 in Australia

Good player but not in our top 10 IMO or at best 8-10 range:

In no particular order:
Hayden
Lawry
Simpson
McCartney
Barnes
Taylor
Langer
Morris
(Warner/Slater/Murdoch/Gregory)

IMO
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
