Getting tickets in Ports One restaurant at Adelaide oval for the Port v Crows T20 bushfire fundraiser game. 4 hour food & drinks package. F*** the weight loss.

Officially day #1 of holidays. A crook ol’ red wine hangover, NFL playoffs on tv and a gentle Yorke Peninsula sea breeze coming through the window...

Parmi and a few pints at the Port Hughes Tavern will fix the hangover.

Booked in for tea tonight. About to take the dog for a walk/swim down the beach, grab the paper, watch the second NFL game & it will be time for a nap.

Had a appointment yesterday morning in the Hills, so after it I took the opportunity to have a look around the fire affected areas, pleased to see a couple of people I knew from up there had their houses still standing, one was gone though. Incredible how many properties were burnt everywhere but the houses were saved, must be an incredible story for every house that was saved. Pretty spooky driving around some of the back roads imagining what it must have been like.

Anyway what I rated was struggling to find somewhere to have lunch, through Woodside and Lobethal all the bakeries and cafe's were choc full and absolutely flat out, great to see people in the towns and getting the cash registers pinging, the flow on effects cant be underestimated in the local community.

Will make sure I take the family up there one weekend in March/April for a drive, feed and buy from the local stores.

I hate to say it but we can probably thank all the TDU tourists and cyclists for this, in part

I rate how excited my girls are to go to school tuesday... Especially my youngest it's her first day... Can't believe they are both in school now!!!

I know their excitement will probably change as they get older, but i love it now

Fired the smoker up last week to get a feel for how much charcoal I needed to get to what temperature and for how long. Think I'm ready to give some cooking a crack so I put some wings in a marinate last night, they're soaking that up in the fridge, they'll be in the smoker by noon on Saturday with a view to making a pig of myself around 5 o'clock.

She is sooo pumped... I love her enthusiasm about absolutely everything.... Her teacher is great too, had my eldest so i am rapt with that...

The only concern i have is she has a speech issue and i worry that the other kids will be jerks.. But the school is funding an SSO for her. But i am comforted by the fact that she has zero tolerants for BS...
