Yep, like you guys we don't pay any players. Hard to compete with some Clubs. We had Bosisto lined up but then Uni swooped and end of story, they offer these guys free HECS at Uni which is basically $40 to $50k, incredible.

Hoping to get Kelvin back next year, maybe even Drennan. Kelvin made four centuries this season already, plus a 60 in his only Second X1 game for WA, but with so many contracted players over there does not get a look in. Think he may have jumped the gun and left bit quickly, but Siddons did not rate him so he looked for another opportunity.

Strong rumour amongst the boys and grade cricket circles that Patrick Page Jnr making a return to the Bay next year, would be handy pick up if true!

Fair bit of rain forecast the next two days

Friday 36, humid, possible storm, 2-10mm
Saturday 27, rain, possible storm, 10-35mm

A good test of the club cover processes!

Will be no cricket played on Saturday.

Be a juiced up pitch for the one day final on Sunday though!

Think that might be on the cards, Kelly twins to ET where their Dad played, they thought they had them this year but they stayed. Few Sturt boys not that happy with Cammo, may be a couple of others leave too.

Always seems to be whispers this time of the season.

Patrick Page going to the bays, never happening. Speaking to his dad last week, very happy at the Buffs.
More his age demografic with all the lads around his age unlike when he was at TTG, he gets to bat where he wants, bowl when he wants and play with some other aspiring cricketers in Pengelly and Valente.

Eagles have had a horrid run unfortunately, tried to reruit to fill some holes. Hasnt worked, just need to back thier youth program.

Wont be much cricket played this weekend.

Tipping Uni to get the double over the Torrens this weekend.

Should all players be available come finals time im tipping they could be well placed to do the 3 peat.

Top 4 sewn up? Would take something out of the ordinary for any of the top 4 to slip up.

TTG, like southerns at the start of the season had us fooled they were still contenders. Need to rebuild.
Glenelg lack star power. But have some quality youths getting plenty of game time.
Woodville lacking wicket takers, always find the runs but cant threaten with the ball.

Interesting to hear what others think of the layout of the competetion?
Too much white ball, not enough red ball? I know its always hard with scheduling and you cant please everyone.

Example being Sturt, have only played 2 Red Ball games this year before this round. And we hit February next week

Probably feels one red ball game short. Especially as one before Christmas was heavily rain affected.

Is it 7 x two dayers and 6 x one dayers? 8/5 a better mix.

If it could only go to 12 teams then you drop down from 13 rounds to 11. Much easier to get the balance right. But they've tried to go down that path...

Agreed BL - can't see the top 4 changing, especially since TTG won't get any points from this round when it is likely to be washed out.
Sturt a bit like Glenelg with plenty of game time for their youngsters.
Woodville good batting lineup but no bowlers.
Eagles horrible luck with injuries etc. If Smith & Drennan return and their bowlers can stay healthy, they'll be on the up again.
Prospect unfortunately still horrible and don't really know what to make of Port. Benton being injured for much of the season hasn't helped.

Heard that Sturt might be losing Hano Jacobs the promising young quick. Possibly studying interstate

Also their young quick Lemmey (who looks the goods) may have to play school cricket this term

Games at Sturt and Uni already called off.

Sturt already with the win under their belts. Hurts TTG.
Draw for Uni. Didn't realise that Slee took a double hattrick last week. Can't remember that happening in 1st Grade

Brand new covers at Uni and still water got under on to one end of pitch?? Nobody was unhappy with that outcome in the end!

Slee took normal hat trick, Uni have entered that wrong. Will try and get changed.

.

Five games called off. Port and Glenelg look like started at 4.30pm. Glenelg last ditch effort to make the four, if they can get the win and with TTG losing are the only other slight chance to make it.

Will have to wait and see on Page Jnr then, came from the horses mouth to the Bays captain who has been injured all year, so fairly good sources!! Has said he wants to open the batting and not getting that opportunity at Adelaide.

You would think he is no chance of getting another contract with Redbacks as his three year deal is finished, is 20 to 30 kgs overweight and does not score the runs Cossie did. A premiership with Buffs may change his mind!

East Torrens win the One day final over Uni by 39 runs.

Three rounds to go:

1st Adelaide 170 points (BYE, Uni, East Torrens)

2nd East Torrens 145 points (West Torrens, Prospect, Adelaide)

3rd University 145 points (Prospect, Adelaide, BYE)

4th Kensington 120 points (Northern Districts, Glenelg, Tea Tree Gully)

5th Glenelg 90 points (Woodville, Kensington, Northern Districts)

6th Southern District 90 points (Sturt, Port, Woodville)

7th Woodville 90 points (Glenelg, Tea Tree Gully, Southern District)

8th Tea Tree Gully 85 points (Port, Woodville, Kensington)

Things of note:
Tough finish for Adelaide. Bye then Uni followed by East Torrens. Have had a great season but will certainly have to earn a home semi.
East Torrens sitting beautifully. Do their Poms stick around? Lehmann a lock for Redbacks remaining Shield games or not?
Uni would be expected to beat Prospect easily but they wouldn't want to drop it with Adelaide and the bye to come. Win and finals sewn up.
Similar for Kensington. Should beat the Jets but Cossie is in form. Drop that game and their next two opponents (Glenelg and TTG) are nipping at their heels on the table.

Pretty simple equation for everyone else. Keep winning, hope Kensington and/or Uni stumble on the run home. There are a few knockout games:
Rnd 11: Glenelg vs Woodville. Loser is out of the hunt.
Rnd 12: Woodville vs Tea Tree Gully. Same here.
Rnd 13: Southern District vs Woodville. They might be both gone by this stage anyway

May be slight change to some teams points, as when game is abandoned teams get 10 points, but some games showing only 5 each like was a normal drawn game. SACA will need to adjust those matches.

So think Uni and ET will be on 150 points and Glenelg and Southern on 95.

The Bays not getting that final wicket on Saturday may have sewn up the four now you would think, unless some "creative" declarations and outrights occur.
