One place registered ( from 9am Saturday to 9am Sunday ) 380mm of rain, of which 85mm fell in one hour. 85mm in an hour!

The Sydney CBD received 176mm from 9am Sunday to 9am this morning.

Imagine if all that rain went into the catchment areas. Yabby yabby yabbies

Town in NSW received 115mm in an hour on Monday. That's rain.

Cyclone UESI is on track to bump into southern Queensland and most of NSW with Sydney now forecast to get up to 40-50mm today and 50-60mm tomorrow. Sydney has had 416mm this month.

First time since the early 1970’s that Adelaide will not pass 35 any day in February. Apart from the ruthless patch around Xmas this Summer has been very tame. January on average was 5 degrees cooler than last year and February 3 degrees.

Was only reading about this the other night.

Long term drivers The Indian Ocean Dipole and the El Nino Southern Oscillation are both neutral. Short term drivers Southern Annual Mode and something I can't recall off the top of my head are both also neutral. This suggests rainfall patterns through Autumn to remain around average, temperatures may be a little higher than average.

The Coral Sea is warmer than normal, this usually means higher rainfall, however the tropical western Pacific Ocean is warmer than normal so that will draw moisture away from Australia reducing the influence of the Coral Sea temperature.

Our split system works a treat, it's positioned very poorly though, we get a blizzard in half the house and the Sahara for the other half.
