True but it is a reasonable way to keep the calorie count low but avoiding high calorie foods. As we are learning though calorie in vs calorie out is a bit of oversimplification of the matter.

Working in the fitness industry I cant stand fad diets but keto has a tiny bit of merit to it.

I have done 2 things wrong in the past
One was eating main meals in front of the TV too often
The other was masticating my food far too quickly

I have found since eating at the kitchen table, or outside and chewing thoroughly that :
I usually eat less and usually feel less hungry on completion
When in front of the TV , after finishing the meal , I would invariably still be hungry

I also, as much as possible , put the knife and fork down between mouthfuls
By stretching out the duration of the meal, it makes me feel fuller
The temptation to have seconds is less since Ive made the changes

Been trying to get my "steps" up, not as easy when you sit at a desk all day, but i've been walking home from work on nights i dont have sport and then walking to night owls on Wednesday evenings. Averaging around 9,000 a week now (supposed to be 10,000+)

Weight hasn't changed much - fluctuates between 110 and 112 but my blood pressure is normal and my cholesterol has come down a few points to almost perfect.

My diet has been good, I think it's the alcohol on weekends that's killing me.. so trying to limit the beers last couple of weeks.

My new wife bought me a Fitbit for my birthday, and I'm varying wildly btween 2000 and 11000 steps a day depending on whats on for the day - less steps on a day I've allocated to catching up on medical journals and more when we go out. Mostly I'm somewhere in the middle. The trip to the top of Mount Barker the other pay pushed it up a bit.

Decided I wanted to do something this year to challenge myself, something I thought I could monitor and stay motivated but wasn't too unrealistic that I was destined to fail.

My "New Years Resolution" was not to drink any more than 50 times this year - whether it be one or many.. now whilst this works out to one a week with a couple weekends off, it's not as easy as I first thought - it's amazing how often i'd drink during summer - good weather, few beers on a Sunday around home, Wednesday night at lawn bowls, Thursday after footy/cricket training, Friday after work a few wines, Saturday at cricket.. some weeks that's 5 nights a week i'd have at least one drink.. add in birthdays, dinners, long weekends - it adds up quick.

Printed an A3 sheet numbered 1-50 and I cross off and date when I have a drink at home.

Currently sitting at 5x times drinking this year, weight has decreased from 116.2kg to 109.8kg and average steps per day are up by a couple thousand to 8,406 (good days are between 11,000 and 15,0000, whilst down days are as low as 2,700).

Doing a vegetarian 30 day challenge over March, that'll be interesting.

Hoping I can get down below 100kg by the end of the year.. it's been a while.

I did a month of not eating meat and i felt amazing, increased energy was massive as well. Couldn't do it as a long term change as i genuinely love meat but have definitely cut down the amount of meat i eat by half and have a found a heap of non meat meals that i actually love and fill satisfied by.

Following the knee surgeons diagnosis, which included the "surprising" revelation, that it wouldn't hurt to drop a few KG's, I have a goal and an action plan. Basically he said, get under 100kg's and your body, knee's specifically, will/should cope with cricket, running/fielding etc.

I want to drop 10KG's over 20 weeks, Sadly beer, and a certain Mexican brewer will be the loser here.....drop the afternoon sugar break, some portion control, and some well overdue discipline. Combined with hopefully get back to the pool, when they open again, along with some bike riding & walking. Running is out.

Wednesday 17/06/20 - weigh in = 109kg

Friday 19/06/20 - weigh in = 107.5kg

1.5 gone in 2 days, no beer no sweet stuff, some portion control.

99 KG's and I am out on the pi55 again!

Good luck! Similar goals to me.. i'm hoping to get under 100kgs by end of year. currently at 107.9kg.. tough battle last couple weeks, seem to be working harder and the weight loss is slower but what's really killing me is the alcohol - the last two times I've drunk (both a Saturday a fortnight apart) it's added 2kg to my weight.. then I spend the rest of the week trying to work it off.

Upside is i'm getting less back pains/issues, walking and running has become easier and my resting heart rate has gone from ~70 to around 50.
