At least keep the TV networks and sponsors happy, who pay the majority of the bills.

The ground could not take it.

Great idea but probably a better idea to send them to a place with a lower population like the NRL are considering with North Queensland. Maybe Perth or Adelaide.

This proposal would work short term only, if it was to be long term you may as well call it VFL and have a 10 team comp for the year. This only benefits the Victorian clubs with twice the travel for interstate clubs.

Would there be much of an advantage if games were in an empty stadium

Surely the crowd play somewhat of a part in the ‘home ground’ advantage.

It's not the ground it's the constant travel that would be a disadvantage, not to mention how the clubs would pay for doubling their travel expenditure.

Will be to interesting to see if we see a higher than usual level of away teams winning in the early rounds

How is there extra travel if they are all in Melbourne?

Put all the Victorian teams in a hotel also to make it a similar experience for all, surely by having teams travel all over Australia to play at empty stadiums someone is going to be infected sooner rather than later.

How do they put Fremantle, Sydney, Geelong, Port, Brisbane and Melbourne through 4 airports, 2 flights, 4 coach trips and then expect them to be 100% clear the following week to play? Only needs one person from either club to show symptoms and they're all going to have to isolate.

What sport I watched over the weekend in front of empty stadiums didn't seem like it was worth playing. There's no way AFL footballers can arouse themselves* to the point of peak performance without the atmosphere generated by the supporters.

Calling it now, there will be no games this week.

Was thinking you meant play all games in melbourne not be based there. Surely you wouldn't expect players from Vic clubs to stay in hotels. Where would the 8 interstate clubs train?

Would you watch that if it was on in its normal time slot anyway? Most likely not so it changes nothing.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
