Good to see Carlton give it a shake after half-time and make it a (kind of) contest, but Richmond reaped the rewards of their strong start out of the blocks and continue on their merry winning way. Cripps impressive.

I found the game hard to watch and get enthused about without a crowd. It emphasised how much the crowd is an integral part of a footy match. James Brayshaw's presence in the commentary box didn't help things, mind you.

I'm keen to see how the AFL's telly ratings fare over the coming 'season.' I suspect there's the possibility of a drop in audiences above what the AFL and networks would've been expecting - some neutral supporters might prefer to watch/do something else if there's no crowd atmosphere to make the game seem more important, because an empty ground makes it feel like you're watching an inter-club practice match.

I enjoyed the game.

Sure I giggled at the start at the no crowd and training session like atmosphere, but once I got into watching the game I found it just as enjoyable.

Didn’t like them constantly panning to the empty stands and making reference to the no crowd though, just kept bringing back to reality.. just focus on the game.

Also didn’t like the boundary rider with the microphone stand so ordinary.. and laughed at the end with Richo & Riewoldt who did it then when interview finished went and patted each other on the back.

Got to admit whilst I’m anti AFL as a business, shocker they decided to play and the game felt like no more than a slightly glorified trial match it certainly has lifted my spirits having something to look forward to on the weekend. Even if it’s just to follow my SuperCoach team

I think as a society we have probably underestimated the mental health impact on coronavirus both from our work and personal lives.

Whilst we need to protect the vulnerable we need to consider the health of all 24 million Australians and part of that is trying to make life as normal as possible. There has to be a balance.

Can see lots of significant secondary consequences from the current situation arising. Especially in communities where sport is the social fabric of that towns existence
