They are a scourge on the football landscape. I have said it for years.

Agreed.

I was involved at West Adelaide back in the late 90's and i recall fondly physically frog marching the little fat head Max Stevens off of Richmond Oval after he refused to acknowledge after numerous conversations and warnings that a 1/4 time break wasn't a good time to talk to a then 14 year old Ben Rutten about joining his stable!

Max Stevens!
Could you have picked on anyone smaller ;)

Absolutely, none for Paddy Dangerflog after his comments demanding to see the AFL's books before the players negotiate on pay cuts. How do you reckon that would go down if you demanded to see your employers books before he stood you down?
The average wage is 370k. 50% for 2months is $30833, the players have taken an 8.3% pay cut, how ******* generous of them. Their spin doctors are certainly hard at work here.

Didn’t he want a % of revenue as well in the last broadcaster contract?
No revenue = no income
Wonder if Dangerflog is still wanting that deal?

Got interviewed and said they don't want to commit to a pay cut after may 31st because they don't know what's going to happen and the afl should be giving more info. Maybe he doesn't watch the news and doesn't realize nobody in the world can say what is going to happen tomorrow let alone after may 31st. Tom rockliff apparently saying no to a pay cut because he might lose his investment properties. No concept of reality these blokes, could go pear shaped if salary cap needs to decrease in the coming years, not a lot of public support for the players at the moment.

I get the impression Press Red for Ed is in their corner from what I seen on Classified last night. He was also defending the need for the excessive coaching staff and advocating how important Gold Coast are to the comp.

AFL contributes $37m pa to the AFLPA  , not anymore.

Shouldn't the players be contributing to their union?

NIL
In the last few weeks the AFL just signed a new 2 year extension on its TV rights deal. No clubs will be merged or folded as they need 9 games per week to meet their contractual obligations.
The AFL is seeking a $500m loan and individual clubs are doing likewise

There's a reason Brisbane traded him despite being a captain of the club.

Came to Port the end of 2017 when Brisbane chose not to match the Port offer, in hindsight they knew they were getting Lachie Neale at the end of 2018.

There was talk at the time that many were happy to see the back of him after a few incidents aswell. Several of their youngsters didn’t want him around the club

Given Ports offer wasn’t that high from memory it was strange Brisbane didn’t match it.
Makes sense getting Lachie Neale now.

$700k ( reportedly ) x 4 years is pretty decent coin.

Brisbane did have Neale on the way and a solid group of kids they wanted to keep so paying him that much wasn't in their sights.

They will be there once it kicks back off. It might be 2 or 3 years down the track they might need to call it a day on one of the teams if things haven't picked up quickly financially for the AFL.

This will stop the call for a Tassie expansion team for a long time, thankfully.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
