This is what the Power have always wanted. This way they can blame the virus and fold their reserves (keep the gaming license). They only kept the Magpies to appease some naïve supporters that couldn't comprehend a team of Power players is the Power reserves and Steve Summerton was right. Besides me cleaning out my garage, this would be one of the few positives of COVID -19. If they truly wanted to keep the Magpies they could reduce their AFL coaching staff by one down to 46.

Wouldn't that mean a 9 team competition (provided the Crows Reserves stay in) which means 1 team will have bye each round.

If the AFL reduce lists to 35 I couldn't see them having a team, taking injury into consideration there may only be 6 or 7 players available some weeks. That's a lot of top up players, it would be a massacre.

I agree with Brett. Crows are gone as well.

Here is a list of players that are aligned to a SANFL clubs already.

West: M.Crouch Laird B.Crouch Hartlett Bonner R.Gray

North: Rozee Woodcock Burton Mayes Sloane

Eagles: Smith Knight McPherson Stengle Shoenberg T.Burgyone Mead Frederick Sutcliffe

Centrals: Milera Westhoff

South: McKay Talia Hartigan

Sturt: Grundy Wilson Mcadam Atkins Lienert

Norwood: Walker Jonas Brown Ladhams

Bays: Gibbs Fogarty Boak Clurey Lynch

I’m not sure who Boak Sloane Talia Atkins Hartigan Clurey and or R Gray were aligned to.

I reckon Gray might've been West and Talia at South?

Looking more and more likely DOC SANFL certainly having discussions about it. AFL clubs wont be able to afford to reserves and the AFL players can earn some cash outside the cap (SANFL clubs use to pay $300-350 a game.

Port Adelaide will finally be one club & one team.

Westies might win a game if those AFL players actually played for them.
Glenelg would be hard too beat again as well with their players.

Correct. 8 teams all filled with 8-9 AFL players each.

The SANFL draft will be awesome. Every player drafted in the last 5 years plus Ebert Lycett Dixon Rockliff Watts etc... will all need new homes

It probably would and I wouldn't have any problem with going back to the 1991-2013 model, but I'd also be happy with No AFL in the SANFL at all.

Definitely
I’m wondering if the SANFL have the ability to draw a loan of say $2m and distribute that to the 8 clubs?
Nonetheless there will be some massive changes to the SANFL with a bit of fat being trimmed starting with the Reserves

Any ideas how much its costs the Power to run the Magpies? They don't pay anything to the SANFL, they will still need development coaches so one of them could coach them, sprinkled with a few volunteers I don't really understand why it would cost that much considering it is a key part of their business model.

Bombers quoted $1.4 mill to run a reserves side.

So $1 mill at a guess. I know of a crows line coach for the sanfl side on $80k a year

So there's a 15 year deal in place to host the AFL reserves, if the SANFL has an 8 team comp for the next few years geez it would be funny if Port and Adelaide get let back in once the corona fallout corrects itself. Whinge Thread version 2.0, UK would need to create even more usernames.
