Didn’t know that.

So clubs who have a large number of well paid staff, who have now had to stand them down want assistance with paying them?
Yeah $1500 per fortnight like everyone else!!!

So everyone else has to fund this(eventually) until they go back to their well paid job?

I’m all for assisting with people who have fallen on hard times but when the AFL CEO and his mates are taking home 3/4 of a mill still after a pay reduction, it’s a bit rich to ask for assistance.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Again this isn’t about the well paid coaches and the AFL aren’t seeking assistance.

This is about the clubs
Every club has office staff, membership teams and plenty of other roles and they are all not highly paid jobs. Most clubs have stood down all or most of their staff. These staff are eligible for a Jobseeker payment just like any other person out there.

So how can a club continue to pay its senior coach/s whilst asking for handouts for its admin staff?
Maybe all staff should be the same amount during this period?

All head coaches have taken cuts of varying amounts and some clubs have laid off all their assistant coaches and most of their football department.
AFL clubs are a business and it’s no different to any other business that keeps some staff on but let’s others go.
The ones that have been laid off are entitled to Centrelink benefits

Amber wants the players to play for a can of Coke and a fun size Mars Bar. Best players to get a McHappy Meal voucher.

As a kid I never understood why they called it “fun size”, it was a shit load smaller.
As an adult, these sentiments haven’t shifted.

Some perspective perhaps.
Tottenham Hotspur have stood down 550 staff.
They only have 11 on the pitch, so that's 50 staff per player wtf?

You are miles off.
They have a squad of 25 for their main team but then they have reserve and academy sides, women’s teams etc.
They have hundreds of players on their books and are a big business hence the amount of staff.
Their “training” base is over 80 acres and has 20 soccer pitches with rehab facilities, gyms, pool, spas and housing for over a hundred players. They would have well over 300 office staff alone and on match day they would employ over 1000 staff for each home game so obviously no games no work.

Yeah yeah I know all that, but ultimately they only have 11 on the pitch.
My point is the gravy train for elite sport is out of control.

The EPL makes the money though so can afford it.
My point with staff stands though. Unlike the AFL where they or the ground pay for catering, security etc in soccer the home team foots the bill so for every Spurs home game they would employ over 1000 people. These are the type of people that would have been cut or taken a hit to their pay. I would guess all their youth and academy staff have been cut aswell. Don’t think any of the staff responsible for the first team would be laid off

If they were actually playing they’d deserve a happy meal.
They’re doing SFA.

Players and coaches should get a minimum wage IMO

Basically what we're all being requested to do, they're just fining people who aren't, we're not doing that yet.

90 days from today is July 1.

Thats too much of coincidental date for the rounded 90 day figure to not think this wasnt planned a while ago.
