I think you'd have to demonstrate "financial hardship" by providing income assessments.

Exactly. That's why they should give EVERYONE 8 weeks off whether you are working or not and it's your choice whether you put it back into your mortgage during that time. The money that would get injected back into the economy would be massive. Better than any stimulus package.

How is money getting injected into the economy?
Everything is closed.

Agreed.

You know what I would do? I'd pay it off my mortgage!

They are doing this for 6 months.

What about those with investment properties they rent out - they can get their mortgage frozen for 6 months to deal with this shit whilst still collecting the rent income.. what happens to those who are renting (not on housing trust) who then suddenly lose their job or need to stay home and cant afford rent.

The world is ****** up.

If you’re collecting rent and not paying any interest on your loan you’ll get slugged with a tax bill at tax time for being positively geared.

Repayment holiday only applies to housing loans, not investment loans. I believe you can apply online and approval process is pretty much automatic upon review.

Not with us, if you ask for it you get it*. We aren't staffed to go through 20,000 requests and assess them all individually. Unless your Home Loan was in arrears prior to this, it gets put in place.

To give some perspective, our call centre got more calls last week than it did for the whole of 2019.

*This may vary from bank to bank.

This has no doubt been covered before, but the 44 recovered, does that mean they have been discharged from Hospital? Or they had coron confirmed and now they have the antibodies?

44 seems a low number out of 385...

It's information I've been seeking, too. What constitutes "recovered", initially I thought it was two negative tests in a row, but that's not the case. From what I have gathered is "no longer showing symptoms" is considered recovered.

Not every case is hospitalised either, many stay at home and recover.

They could waive payments for 8 weeks if they're happy never to collect them.

I don't think they can extend the term of the loan contract automatically though. Customers would have to opt in.

Its deferring repayments (and interest) not waiving repayments, loans will be extended for an extra 6 months so these payments dont need to be caught up in 7 months time.

I have a small business loan with NAB through my family trust.
If I want to extend, what do I need to do?
Do I just click a button on the website or do I need to call?
I don't need to extend, but if it's described as above I see it as a free hit, albeit with 6 more months of dividends being put into the trust account
Cheers
