Was not infectious on the flight, quarantined and on 24th March noticed he had limited sense of smell and taste.
At the time SA Health was not messaging about coming forward if you have those symptoms.
He's been tested on the 6th May and has come back positive. He's immigrating to Australia, knows very few people and has remained very much isolated since his arrival. Only has had 5 close contacts, they have no symptoms, they are in quarantine and are awaiting test results.
Why is it 6 weeks later that he's still positive? The virus can still "shed" after that period of time but is no longer considered a viable virus. Around day 8 of incubation studies have been able to grow culture from the positive test. After that period the risk of transmission is very low even if you have the virus.

Why was he allowed to come here?
Was he tested as all arrivals are?Booney wrote:Lightning McQueen wrote:Booney wrote:The man in his 70's arrived from overseas on the 20th March from the UK.

He quarantined as all arrivals did at that point.

Still something that irks me, it was non essential travel during a pandemic.

If not and its lingering for 6 weeks we are all doomed.

Surely in quarantine they are tested on arrival and before leaving?
He arrived on the 20th so would’ve left quarantine on the 4th of May yet the next day he takes a test????
