You'll need $350 to get cracking.

Then you go and buy the food. ;)

I built my own a while back but its not this clean anymore - camping trips it gets well used.
Cast iron grill from bunnos slipped straight in. Charcoal in the bottom with breather holes drilled - works a treat.

You just go totally balls deep straight up, how much were your gloves and spray bottle for instance? You can improvise  .

I got the $1.95 spray bottles and was willing to sacrifice some hand hair with a burn here and there..............and that was with a set of gloves not too far away.

Got my alfoil trays from cheapo's also.

The scented chips are the dear part, I went through half a big pack that cost around $25 per pack.

How much was your thermometer?

I haven't got one yet, just relying on feel atm before going full scale.

There's no point in me having one for the sake of it and not getting the best out of it.

I managed to get one from Woolworths for $15. Doesn't have real time capabilities, I just probe when required and take a reading. Not sure if they stock them full time or it was a one off Aldi type special buy.

Chimney, chimney, chimney, chimney.

I wasted so much time in my life getting beads started when i could have been doing it with a chimney all that time. It's the best investment you will make, its quick and efficient, it makes handling easier and is a ton load safer.

Mate, it took me a while to work it out and even then it was only on Saturday I worked out that I only needed 4 firelighters.

I used to place them randomly throughout the heat beads in the chimney, now I scrunch 4 into some newspaper to put under the chimney for the same result, probably better as it's a less aggressive burn to begin with.

I seen Gary Saturday at Bunnings and told him the same thing, it appeared to work for him.

You’d easily get away with 2 firelighters both broken in half .

Yeah four firelights in some scrunched up newspaper and then sit back and relax for 30-45 minutes and your away.

I use to rush the process a bit too much and start cooking before i had all the beads ashed over. All i was doing was making my job hard by getting inconsistent heat throughout the cook. Now im more relaxed about the whole thing and my cooks are so much easier.
