season

It's a bit like that, seems more like exhibition games than a season, I guess time will tell.

I certainly don't have the same level of interest as previous years.

Yep its an exhibition season, experiment with the rules

Rugby came back an awesome spectacle and i dont rate rugby at all. Football served up that tripe.
Anybody that doesnt want the game changed are fossils.

what about 2 points if you kick 90 or 100 points and lose.
We have to change the mindset of the coaches, thats the biggest stumbling block. The easiest thing in the world is to defend, a player with no skill what so ever can be a great tackler or tagger and worth something in todays football. How bout we get footballers involved in the game!!!

I think you've missed the point. Changes have ruined the game. Don't compound it by making more changes. That won't fix anything.

Returning the game to the pre-professional era is what most want. Adding new rules adds more subjectivity from umpires, more analysis and more scrutiny. I want football to be instinctive and less robotic.

There are some rules that have made the game better but a lot that are there for show. Remove those and we'll have a better showpiece.

For starters;

Remove the running out of the goalsquare without kicking it to yourself
Remove the out of bounds deliberately rule and provide defenders with somewhere to go
Remove the instant holding the ball as soon as someone falls on it
Remove the umpires posturing before bouncing or throwing the ball up
Remove the entitled area
Remove 50m penalties
Remove the nominating for ruck contests because we're not playing U7 footy and also slows things down
Remove the inability for 3rd man up as that allowed the game to be opened up (which we wanted didn't we)?
Remove laptops from the coaches boxes
Remove the prior opportunity rule
Remove the ability to 'naturally' arc from a set shot without being called play on
Remove the 6-6-6

That is all.

Sorry all, 2 good teams playing has restored my faith. Well 1 good team and weve dragged the cats along for the ride
Still think there should be bonus points for scoring 100, then the coaches can sort the game out

Might be hard to get to 100 points with 16 minute quarters

Burgoyne has to be suspended for 1 or 2 games for that tackle on Dangerfield!

Really annoys me how commentators stick up for him, any other player does that they sink the boots in!
