Now I read that Showtime have cancelled the series, when 1 more season would have wrapped it up anyway. Given the show was still rating well it seems an odd move, although no doubt there’d be reasons.

Bloody annoying when you invest in a half decent show and the producers cut it short

Great show and characters, people often tell me I look like Ray, even my folks
Although not satisfied with the ending I wasn't overly disappointed as I knew prior that it had been canned.

I read there was a fair bit of backlash from fans. Maybe with Corona halting everything the TV Execs might want some easy wins and bring it back.

Hope you’re right mate. Just seems weird treatment of fans to provide 7/8ths of the story. If it were financially viable to run a final season it’s hard to understand why they wouldn’t

He was putting out tweets or messages trying to ramp up support for an 8th and final season

Mys Jimmy and I binged on the first 2 series of Killing Eve in the past few days
First series on Stan then 2nd and 3rd on ABC iView

Wow - Captivating and totally unpredictable. Nothing like I thought it would be

If you like mystery / spy stuff, it's right up there with the best I've seen

Highly recommend

Great call Jimmy, started it the other night. Yellowstone aint bad either, a bit cliche and Dallas like at times but enough blokiness to keep me entertained.

Fantastic series. It jumps around a bit but it’s well worth a binge one night

Mafia - Mexican drug cartels - ISIL
It’s got everything
It’s on SBS catch up

Speaking of SBS and it's catch-up service, had a look at the latest Franco-Anglo do-over of HG Well's 'War of the Worlds.'

So far, it seems to take a novel interpretation of the original story (as compared to the 2005 Tom Cruise version), and focuses more on the 'earth under the martians' rather than their arrival and conquest (I don't think they're 'martians' by definition, though). Definitely worth a look if you're a fan, I'm really keen for the next episode to drop.

me, I thought it was great - it does give you a warning at the beginning that it's fictional history but some of the bad stuff really happened.

Knowing what the Government is capable of hiding, I'm wouldn't be at all surprised if most of that stuff did actually happen

Just watched the first episode, having been occupied when it was on FTA.

Bit hard to form an opinion yet ... all was building up to the "attack", such as it was, with only the barest character development. Presumably the drama will revolve around the bonding of the survivors from this point. It feels like it's going to be a bit like a John Wyndham novel in that regard (think Day Of The Triffids, and the Kraken Wakes), more of a human drama in which the invasion/catastrophe is incidental.

I'll watch another episode before i commit to going the distance.

@Pseudo Had a further look at this one? I'm keeping up with it, but the end of episode four was unusual and seemed unnecessary.

Yes, still going, although my experience was muddled 'coz I accidentally saw episodes 2 and 3 out of order. Damned new-fangled streaming services...

The end of episode 4 was a nice cliffhanger; It smells to me like Cylons capturing human females on Caprica ... I want to see what that's all about, and why specific young humans can hear the alien signal.

Conversely I thought the whole French brother-sister issue thing was unneccessary. I want less soap opera unless it involves alien cyborgs, please.

It grated with me when the scientist lass claimed the aliens stopped transmitting because they sensed her scanning them ... geolocation of a signal with a sensor array is a passive operation; there should be no emission for the aliens to detect. :-B

I get the sense something has to happen soon ... I'll be watching again.

watched the espn 30 for 30 doco about Hillsborough... Didn't no much about it but this was an excellent doco about a tragic event. 2 things that shocked me, 1 why the hell was a FA cup semi final played there (i know it was the best location for a neutral ground) but surely there was better options. 2 the cover up and the treatment of the victims families by official and media was truly disgusting
