He’ll love playing against us.

We've got Menzel & Boyd and then we need 16 others to help out. Don't know why you're worried.

and J Schiller
plus we have Lange, who is emerging as a very handy player
then we get an extra big bloke this weekend, very handy to rest up forward
and Connor McLean & Nason are back,
things aren't as bad as they might seem (to you)
chin up Grumpo.

PLUS the reserves are unbeaten on top, so we seem to have some depth this year, & that's a good thing too, don't you think?

OK the glass is half full Gazz.

Hoskin and Schiller bros didn't play v South not sure if they will come into the side.
Granted Lange is an exciting prospect.

Surely you don't like all the backwards sideways kicks, little chip passes turnover the ball goal type of game we play?

We turn the ball over a LOT inside 50m zone.

I suppose there's a chance we may win a game this season but I am a glass half empty kind of person.

Very true. However I think we have a lot of lads who are caught in between the two levels atm.
They are able to shine at ressies level but have yet to become an influence at league level. Big jump in class between the two grades.
EXAMPLE: Cam Wild was amazing in his first game at the Club in the ressies (against West) but was barely sighted in the league the following week.

The top sides have 8 to 10 guys capable of consistent elite ability any given game.
We have 5. (And just two played on Saturday). Some of our kids will get there but inconsistency of youth is an issue.

You keep mentioning Nason, are you hoping or legitimately confident he’ll contribute?

Not your worst, the competition's worst.

Take stats for what they are worth however its clear you cant win games getting 20 I50's. Probably even more damaging is the fact you only had 21 less possession's than South so had plenty of the ball.

Some of us have been saying it for the last few years .We simply dont score when we have no one ahead of centre constantly its little wonder thats the case.It doesnt help having appalling skills the usual defence will come out in saying we only have a lot of young blokes but there are some who have played league for a few seasons now and cant hit our own players 20 metres away under no pressure.

We lack the star power and rely on far too few. We play around 14-15 'serviceable' types every week. Hopefully some of these serviceable players will turn into elite SANFL footballers under Andrews guidance and with maturity. It wont be this year though and we will struggle to win more than a couple of games.

Having a look at the team on the weekend if you wanted to be really harsh you could say we only had 2-3 out and out proper decent league footballers, keeping in mind Goodrem and Jenner are at the very end of their careers and whilst Boyd has been fantastic this time last year he couldn't make another sides league.

Personally I think and its easier said than done but we need to skip the regional NSW Victoria recruits and continue to look to get some ex AFL (Jesse White) types.

There were only 9 instances I counted SA kicking the ball to Centrals.

We aren't any good at the chipping short kicks or back and forward across the ground and across goals. It usually results in a turnover. If we're going to turn it over we may as well kick long out of the 50 metre arc and if it turns over at least the opposition have to work to bring it back in.

Also scoring 5 goals a game would be good if we were playing soccer, but we're not we are playing Australian Rules Football. We need to score 15+ goals and maybe we will win more than we lose.

This"game plan" or style doesn't work. Let's try something else.

100% agree, can't stand the switch that gets intercepted so often due poor skills. If you're going to make an error, make it long. Play with forwards and kick the ball to them, even if it's to a contest (at least it's a contest). Can see some good talent at the club though.

Is it due to poor skill or the attacking players running to the wrong areas.

I saw one occasion in particular which stood out where we had the ball on the attacking side of the outer wing (we were kicking to the northern end) and under pressure the centrals player kicked the ball to the 30m out directly in front of goal, whilst Lange who was the forward made a lead 90 degrees directly towards the boundary. The South defender protected the dangerous area to which the ball went and took an uncontested mark.

In that particular incident i blame the forward for heading to the wrong area not the midfielder. I noticed on a couple of occasions where the centrals forwards were running very ordinary leads away from where i believe 99% of coaches would have wanted the kick to go.
