The protest was held on 6 June and on 1 July Acting Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Professor Paul Kelly declared that there were no links between the BLM protest and the current clusters. The Australian are now reporting there is a link, although they are very vague on what the link is. Is there evidence of anyone, who was Covid free, attending the BLM protest and contracting the virus at the protest, then passing the virus on to other members of the community i.e. people in those housing estates. Or could the link be less sinister. e.g. a person attended the BLM protest Covid free, contracted the virus several days after attending the protest and then passes it on to other members of the community.
The Australian is lying yet again and they have no evidence to back their claims. The article deliberately misrepresents the attendance by at least a factor of 10 (was more like 100 to 200K, not 10K). If the BLM protest with 100K+ in attendance was responsible for community transmission of a virus - with a 7-14 day incubation period - then there would have been exponential growth of positive cases several weeks ago.
Look past the Murdoch lies and it's pretty simple:
- 6 people who protested have been infected
- No evidence any of them acquired it at the protest
- None live in a major housing complex
