Gotta have a balance.

If you think the club is making selections based on what the media might say, what the fans might think and what trolls might say you're in a worse position than I thought.

Right now you have no obligation to pick a team to win this week, or the next, or the next, the only obligation Nicks and the selectors have is to make sure the club is doing what's best for them long term, now, if they think ( obviously ) picking Gibbs is best for them long term then pick him, my view and that of plenty of others I'm sure is it's a wasted opportunity to see what someone else has to offer.

By that rational why not drop everyone who isn't going to play in the next premiership window. Let the side get smashed by 100 points every game and scar the kids that are in there. Carlton tried that and 3 rebuilds later they still aren't any better off (and are getting more out of their recycled players than the kids this year). At this stage especially for the guys in the side I'd argue a win is a lot more important than playing a bunch of 18 year olds. The confidence on so many of the guys is shot you can see it in their body language, a few wins would lift everyone.

Your spot on, its exactly what they need. But the Oracle knows best

Wilson 25, Poholke 22, McHenry 20 are all out of the side. At a stretch McHenry isn't even a kid.

Why do they keep Wilson?
Play him or move him on as he’s not a kid.

I think he has something to offer at this level but never given the chance.
He might play next year when both Crouch brothers are gone.

Exactly. He's 25, big body, B Crouch goes out and Wilson is like for like so they bring in Gibbs to run around like a sheep dog behind the packs.

McHenry was rested/injured, should be back this week.
Poholke was unlucky to be dropped for mine. Never got tried in the midfield and Stengle / McAdams look in front of him now for small forward.
Wilson hasn't got a game through 3 coaches now, don't disagree there. Either play him or let him go. Couldnt get a game in 2018 either when Crouch was out so must be doing something wrong.

No ones seeing these scratch matches so who knows how the kids who aren't getting a game are going. Hard to push for a spot when you aren't playing real games. The normal first picked guys aren't getting back in after injury (Atkins / Knights but that might change in an hour) either so if Gibbs is doing something right then try him.
