If they can add another 15 they'll be doing well

Odds are interesting
TAB Odds
EG 2-15
DR 101
PA 1-70

Must be some rain about ?
$101 the draw seems way 2 short with 2 days left
Given no stoppages, this match could be ending before day 5

EG seems to be good odds ?

This is the same TAB that is offering $1001 about a footy team that is bottom and basically mathematically impossible to even make the finals let alone win the flag

Meanwhile Eng are 3/105 trailing by 172. Pakistan cant afford to let Pope and Stokes get settled or that target could reduce quite quickly

There has been some quality reserve sweeps in this match, Anderson of all the batsman played a good one in England's first innings and Root and Stokes have smoked a couple aswell in this innings.

And they have! Stokes gone for 9 on review. A good review by Pakistan after a poor one the over before.
England 4/107, 170 to win.

Pope now gone. Both Stokes and Pope to rearing deliveries and this is the perfect example of why you bat 1st.

Buttler & Woakes are putting the pressure right back on Pakistan by batting aggressively and now only need 93 to win with 5 wickets in hand. Pakis desperately need a breakthrough

England win by 3 wickets
Eng second innings 7/277
Woakes 84*
Buttler 75
Yasir 4/99

When Pope got out I thought Pakistan have got this and turned off. Buttler and Woakes came together at 5/117 and put on 139 for the sixth wicket to set the win up for England.

Have to agree TDK when the star batsman Pope was out, I had thought PA would win
EG were 5/117 still 160 runs behind
PA I had thought were going to win easily by 100 runs +

Buttler 75
Woakes 84 not out

139 partnership- one of the best Ive seen by 6 + 7 batters
This partnership reminded me of the Langer Gilchrist partnership in Hobart when AU knocked off PA batting last
GilCHRIST and Langer had to score more runs, but Butler and Woakes had to make them in very difficult batting conditions

Im Stoked Josh Buttler played this innings at Test level , his batting is terrific to watch
Also good to see Woakes Burn- he is a terrific player on home soil

Very easy for me sitting thousands of kilometers away, but I thought that perhaps the wrong bowlers bowled at the wrong times
To have their frugal bowler Abbas virtually spectating later in this run chase was prob a mistake
Buttler /Woakes were scoring too freely- he would have tied up an end at worst[ unless he was injured]

The last ball of the match summed up things
7/273
4 needed to win
Woakes on strike- I had thought that the way Woakes flayed at balls outside off peg that he might nick the lefty Afridi who had a new ball
It happened , outside off, a swish By Woakes- catchable height edge to the boundary, where a 3rd slip would have been ...

Test cricket in England
I consider the best viewing of all countries
Batsmen /fast bowlers/spinners all have a chance

Cant wait for the 2nd test

Poor batting by Pakistan in their 2nd innings left the door open for England.
Not to have made at least 200 in their 2nd dig and set Eng over 300 to win was inexcusable. Simply a case of not working hard enough for long enough.
Disappointing for the Pakis to do so much right but then lose the game. I'd expect the Poms to clean sweep the series now barring the inevitable rain interruptions that couldn't even save the apathetic Windies last month

Woakes in England is a tremendous player. Great ODI player all round the world just needs to learn to bowl with a kookaburra ball in tests. One of the nicest guys you will ever meet by all accounts though so great to see him getting some credit finally.

Stokes has gone to NZ for family reasons and will miss rest of series. Hope his old man's ok. Good chance for other lads to step up though.

The second test between England and Pakistan has started. Azhar Ali won the toss and chose to bat first once again. Pakistan are 1/17 with Masood out for 1, LBW to Anderson.

There was talk that Anderson may be left out of England's team and even some retirement/selection talk from Anderson himself during the week but he has retained his spot. Two changes for England for this match- Crawley in for Stokes and Curran in for Archer and one change for Pakistan- batsman Fawad Alam is in for leg spinner Shadab Khan. This will be Fawad Alam's first test match in more than a decade, 3911 days since his last match.

4th ball but yes shows how shit cricket can be!!
Pakistan will resume at 5/126 on day two (hopefully the weather on Southampton is good) after just 45.5 overs were bowled on a rain effected day one.
