I'd rather win the spoon in this COMPROMISED season than any other!

If Centrals were in South’s position this year you’d be singing a different tune...

I can 100% guarantee you I wouldn't, yes it would be a flag but with a somewhat "unusual" feeling about it.

Well I'll tell you one thing... if by some chance the team I support stumbles into the GF and by some freak of nature manages to win the flag this year.. if some flog comes up to me and says its compromised......

Lol, it's the most UNcompromised comp in my lifetime!

Just on this point - the 1975 season was shorter than others before and after. That season 18 games were played (I don't know why, perhaps RiG, Mal, or others could shed some light), whilst 22 games were played in the previous season and from 1977 onward (in 1990, 1993 and 1996 20 games were played, which then became the norm post-1996).

No-one questions the validity of Norwood's 1975 triumph in a season that was, like this season, four games shorter than usual.

1975
18 rounds
A great team won the grand final....

The reason for 18 games was that the SANFL introduced a knockout competition, The Datsun Cup
All 10 clubs of the time participated in that challenge , which was won by Sturt

1975 SANL season finish
CD finished 7th
SA finished 8th

Thanks for clarifying that, mal.

1/4 time

SA 5.7
CD 2.1

One way traffic but South failed to fully capitalise on their dominance with the breeze behind them. Lonergan stretchered off. Wilkinson the multiple goal kicker.

Centrals a lot more intense that quarter and South couldn’t stop the dogs’ momentum.
Hopefully the Panthers learn how to kick with the breeze because the dogs showed us how it’s done.

Very frustrating. I wish South could kick straight. Game should be over, instead the doggies have a real chance coming home with the wind.

I wrote that at 3QT but our last quarter was good. Tough win against a very intense Bulldogs team.
But like I said, we need to kick straight. Bad kicking has already lost us games this season and we need to get it right.

Wouldn't that suck, South finally win a flag after all this time, but in this "irrelevant" season.
South by 8 goals.

This season has teams playing 14 proper SANFL games, the same as 2014-2019.

Good win by South against Centrals who showed plenty of spirit until halftime. A facsinating duel in the midfield with some great contributors from both teams. Heaslip and Hunter were named as Souths best.I like the look of Barreau from central certainly a player who shows a bit.
Souths win wasnt without a cost with game ending injuries to Loneragan before Quarter time and Juckers before halftime. We may hear a little more about one of those injuries early next week I'd suggest. South also managed to hit the post 4 times for the match.
Young South player, Jason "cracka" Horne continues to show his skills, today a towering mark on the outer side of the ground and some elite skills around the ground.

I fear Lonergans injury was severe. Did not see what happened to Juckers.

The last quarter moves of Sampson to Defence and Cailotto onto Butcher with Broadbent going to the middle was good.

Need Highmore back to give the defence some height next week against Sturt, Haines also looked to have hurt his shoulder in the last.

I would bring back McGree. Room for both he and Hunter.

Also...
Very classy from the centrals coach, the Menzels and a few other Centrals players who came into Jimmy Deanes for a drink post match. Great to see.

Definitely agree re : McGree needing to be selected into our side. Another tall up forward or back would be good. Not sure what he really has done wrong.

Tough game against the Dogs. They took it right up to us until we kicked away (against the wind) in the last quarter.

Broadbent going from defense and into the middle in the last quarter and wining the clearances really gave us more confidence with kicking a few early goals. Dogs were on top of the clearances most of the game.

Best for us Heaslip, Hunter, Schwarz, Wilkenson, Sampson and Andrews.
Hunter rucking making a huge difference to South.

Still need to improve our goal kicking (4 hit the post yesterday).

Also as mentioned, classy stuff by the Central coach (Andrews), John Butcher and other players coming to presentations (considering the distance between both). Not many other clubs do that. Great stuff.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!
