Bit of a different Friday night to normal! :D

Finaly came last night, great timing as I got the weekend out of the way and will still go away on Wednesday for my 50th.
Mother and baby boy both well. :)

Not sure where to put this.

Wildlife Rescue

We were fairly convinced for the past few months we have a possum family living in a tree in our small backyard. The signs being droppings about the place. We don't leave food scraps or anything outside, so as not to encourage them.

On Sunday we returned from our 1 hours of exercise, to find our cat going bananas at the back sliding door. There was a tiny possum hoping about in our back yard. We just watched it through the window for about a half an hour, not exactly sure what to do. The little fella soon spotted us, and scurried over next to the fence, and sheltered. I was hoping it would just climb back up the tree in the corner of the yard. A few hours later the little fella hadn't moved.

Mrs C, called wildlife rescue, really just for a bit of advice. They sent a bloke around, who calmly walked over to it, and picked "her" up. A baby ringtail, that he said would not have been capable of climbing back up the tree. He said it's "Possum season" and he had rescued 10 yesterday. So the little lady possum was taken away to a wildlife sanctuary in Hurstbridge to be hand reared until big enough to be released into the wild.

Nice one mate.

We had a German Shepherd when I was a kid ( several, but that's another story ) who got ripped up a bit by a possum once, nothing that required stitches but she had some nasty wounds around the snout and I'm pretty sure never went near another one.

We had a strange possum situation a few years ago.
We used to have an open fireplace that has a closeable grill across the full face of the fireplace.
One night, the cat would not leave the front of the grill. It's pitch black behind it. We ignored the cat.
Next day, cat is still there staring at it, so I opened the grill and there was a f..king huge possum in the fireplace, must of crawled or fallen down the chimney.
Called RSPCA for advice, they told me to "open the front door and the fireplace grill and let it run out". I told them it won't be leaving the house alive if that happens. Needless to say they came around in about an hour and took care of it. Was a very aggressive thing, even the pros had trouble controlling it.

Had to go into the office today for a few hours to tidy up some loose end, so I chucked on some decent clothes, even had a shave.

Back home now, and its a nice warm arvo, time to find something a little more comfy, while I quietly slip the races on in the background.

Fashion choices made - Hawks Guernsey, and casual shorts with my very best thongs. Countdown to beer 1, in about 5 more e-mails.

I rate the grand son's second name Apollo!
Don't rate his first name of Phoenix though, I just assume he'll be a druggie with a name like that. :?

I would've thought Houston Apollo would make more sense, or perhaps even Canaveral Apollo.
