Appears Aust did a Redbacks trick letting the opposition off the hook. Eng were 8/149 off 40.1 and Aust allowed them to score 82 off the last 10 overs with only 2 wickets in hand

Australia were 5/73, Carey and Maxwell hit centuries to mow down England (7/302) in an unlikely victory by 3 wickets

Carey 106
Maxwell 108

Starc hit 11 from 3 balls, we win with two balls to spare

215 run partnership

Poor Morgan, batting at 4 with your feet up relaxing and 2 minutes later you are in to face a hat trick on the third ball of the day :)

Watched a bit towards the end, saw Maxwell and then Carey get out and I thought England had it but Starc smashing Rashid for 6 off the first ball he faced, the first ball of the 50th over was great to watch.

This is England's first bilateral series loss in England since 2015.

Australia arguably has the best ODI number 7 batsman in the world

Glen Smashwell
ODI career
113 matches
33.33 average
123.1 strike rate

Quite an amazing cricketer

Should he be batting above Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey ?

I've always maintained the opinion that Maxwell should be playing at 6 or 7 in ODI's plus be a floater if need be, and then Carey (or whoever the keeper may be) at 6 or 7 aswell.
The problem seems to be getting the middle order combination right- Stoinis, Labuschagne and Marsh were obviously the guys playing there against England but they didn't really set the world alight apart from Marsh making 73 in the first match. Stoinis at 3 in particular and Marsh probably haven't been consistent enough to be batting in the top 4 or 5 and both have played better and been more consistent when batting at 6 or 7.

The next ODI series Australia plays is scheduled to be against India in January so it will be interesting to see what middle order combination they go with. You would think Smith is a certain starter at 3 or 4 and Labuschagne is a good chance to keep his spot. Then its a question of if they want the 4th seam option with Marsh or Stoinis or if they want to play a batsman at 5 such as Wade or Head. I can't see Khawaja playing ODI cricket again unless one of Finch or Warner get injured but even then the selectors might be looking at younger batsman in preparation for the next World Cup.

International Test Cricket is back today with New Zealand hosting the West Indies in Hamilton. The start of play has been delayed due to rain/wet outfield and the pitch is an absolute green top.

The colour I can accept, its the length of the grass that is really surprising. Going to be an interesting game if and when they get away.

Haha yeah, looking at Keefy's post above at first look you can't tell the difference between the pitch being used for the match and the rest of the wicket square and outfield!

Jesus, I'm all for wickets with something for the bowlers, but that pitch looks like the Adelaide Oval outfield... in winter!

Easy job for the groundskeeper. Mow the outfield and stick in some stumps

Jason Holder won the toss and WI are bowling first.
NZ 1/55 from 22 overs
Williamson 25*
Latham 18*
This is Williamson's 33rd test as captain, he's now third on the list of most test matches played as NZ captain. Jon Wright is second with 34 and first is Stephen Fleming with 80.

New Zealand curators do this all the time

Produce a green deck, opposition teams think "holy ****, going to be seaming sideways" ....win the toss and bowl first ......kiwis know its a fraud and will always bat first knowing its going to be a road
Dave Warner will be missed!

Certainly looks that way at the moment, Williamson and Latham had no issues with the pitch putting on 154 for the second wicket and Williamson and Taylor added a further 75.
NZ 2/243 from 78 overs at stumps.
Williamson 97*
Latham 86
Taylor 31*

I'm interested to see what happens when NZ bowl to the Windies once the NZ innings concludes.
