Hope they know what they are doing, because he has plenty of value to offer yet I think.

He's got plenty of value to someone out there, what do you think his value is on the market in a trade?

1st rounder - Not in my book, if it was I'd say 1st rounder for Brown + 2nd rounder

2nd rounder - Swap for swap? Pick 35 for Brown seems low.

This'll be a mighty complicated one.

Considering Sydney offered 2 1st rounders for daniher last year I think 2nd rounder is a bit low.
Somewhere between 10 and 20 if straight draft picks, but I'd rather keep him tbh.
You could pick up a dud in the draft, or build a side around for a known quantity.
Could also have a significant injury that has been undisclosed?
Just doesn't make sense

I know swaps can occur, but 10-20 is the top 8, who in the 8 would take him? I reckon he's a good fit for Collingwood, but they don't have any spare coin to throw around.

You'd think Sydney would be after him and Melbourne.

I think Brown is better than daniher, at least brown gets on the park.
Maybe take a punt on danihers body and straight swap?

It’s understood North would consider what was on the table if the Dees or another club were to make an approach for Polec in the AFL trade period.

Earlier reports have suggested the Roos would be open to covering a portion of Polec’s wages to move him in a trade.

The price of the trade itself, however, is the sticking point alongside the apparent reason for North coach Rhyce Shaw’s issue with the player.

“There’s a couple of parts to this,” former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon explained on SEN radio.

“For the way he plays his football, yes, yes, ticks boxes that Melbourne need. So then you go, ok but not at anywhere near the price.

“So you wouldn’t pay anywhere near the price, and you wouldn’t be giving up early draft picks.

“You’d look at him on your terms and the only other question you have is why isn’t he playing at North Melbourne?”

Lyon believes Shaw has been unhappy with Polec’s “inability” or “unwillingness” to play a team role, pinpointing North’s loss to Carlton in round eight as the most problematic game of the season.

Polec showed his worth with an equal season-high 25 disposals at the Gabba but it’s suggested he “cracked it” when asked to tag Blues star Patrick Cripps.

He was dropped by Shaw for round nine, a 69-point win over Adelaide.

“There is some disconnect going on in terms of - whether it’s instruction, inability to carry out instruction or unwillingness to carry out instruction,” Lyon said on Thursday.

“Whether he’s a bad... I don’t want to cast aspersions but there is a knock on Jared.

“Otherwise he’d still be (wanted) at North Melbourne and that is the thing you’d have to contemplate if you were thinking about taking him on.

“You’d do your homework, you’d do your due diligence, you’d ask that many questions as to why.

“Most people suggest that it goes back to (when) he was asked to tag Patty Cripps, wouldn’t do it, didn’t want to do it, cracked it because he was asked to do it.

“And from that point on the relationship became very strained between the two of them, club and player.

“Is that enough to ward off any others suitors? You have to do your homework.”

I don't think you guys are in the right spot to make a risk like that, 15 games in 3 seasons is a pretty poor return, I think you need to find a more durable player for the potential money that will be offered, should make a big move on Jeremy Cameron, chuck some interest in Viney perhaps, try luring Greenwood back, Bayley Fritsch or Jack Graham could be handy.

Agree.
But why not keep brown and add in some of those other players, plus use our early picks this year.
Has to be more to the story for sure.

McDonald had a crap year but he has a ton of ability and can play either end.

Viney, Cunnington and Ziebell in the guts gives plenty of grunt.
