It's time us supporters and members started treating the AA selections with contempt like the selectors do.

I pay no attention to it because it means very little.

What is the basis of criteria for selecting the captain? How did Dangerfield get captain?

Probably recognition for being a 8 time AA player & all time great?
Possibly also got it on all his work he does as leader of the players association during such a tough year.

I like that they don't always give it to a club captain that's been selected in the team.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I think the captain should be the Brownlow medallist - or the MVP.

Neale for me.

That's sweet that Danger does a lot of work for the AFLPA but WTF has that got to do with playing the game? Reward him in another way.

Probably right, it's probably due to his 8th selection.. bit of recognition but also a little tokenistic.

I really think it should start being position based. Why is Dusty, Bont and Danger picked as forwards, their main position is midfield...

I concur! Fancy being someone like say Dan Butler, Tom Papley or Jack Gunston who kick plenty of goals and miss a forward spot for someone like Patty Dangerfield who kicks 11 goals for the season.

Bad luck, kick more goals or be more versatile, if any of the 3 mentioned played forward permanently they would've kicked 25-30 easily for the year.

Do you think it was the case this year that the stand out small fwds were just the best of a poor bunch & didn't perhaps warrant selection?

2020 potential AA- Butler 27 goals & Papley 26

2019 AA- C Cameron 57 goals
2018 AA- Bruest 54 goals & Gray 36 goals
2017 AA- Betts 55 goals & Gray 46

I know there were 5 less games this year & less time in games but the stats previous AA small FWD's have put up clearly out weigh what this years potential AA selections did.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
