JEFF ANDREWS GONE!

Postby gazzamagoo » Mon Sep 28, 2020 7:22 pm

Wow! Could have knocked me down with a feather but Centrals Coach Jeff Andrews has left/been sacked.
Just got off the phone to a board member & the things you learn at the end of the season!

He was on the phone speaking with potential recruits today so it's fair to say he was blindsided.

Not a great look for any prospective applicant from outside the Club.
Maybe an insider is in the loop...the Club must be confident that they have someone to step in.

If his been sacked that’s a bloody disgrace.

My biggest fear when Laird left is we would get sucked into this trap of turning over coaches, classic example being Man United after Ferguson.

If his not the right man the people who appointed him should be sacked as well for such a poor error in judgement that he couldn’t last more than a year.

He needed to be given his 3 years

Gut feel tells me an ex player may now be available which is why this has happened.

Sacked ? Obviously incidents off field . The club needs to make a statement before it gets out of control. They certainly cant afford to pay him out.

Maybe. If that’s the case, I’d think the underperforming wooden spoon coach Colville would be in the gun...

If true, wouldn't suprise me if it's due money. Roy was part time, maybe (big maybe) we can't afford full time and they've got someone that would go part time?
Agree with some others the game plan over the last 5 weeks has been significantly better. Moving the ball faster, kicking to a contest, not slowly chipping around relying on perfect disposal (seemed Norwoods plan against us), less switching in front of goal for clangers. Earlier he played no talls, Stephenson and Fort were in the reserves and they were kicking to a vacant 50 (or to midgets), obviously Butcher coming in made a big difference.

That makes little sense. Why appoint him FT then ?If sacked he still needs to be paid out .

Because on-field they were improving. Every Centrals supporter and others agreed with that . So what else ? Who knows but this is exactly why Centrals should have made a statement.

Mostly correct although I dont think Muzza played reserves much.
Jeff had a running game from the get go which took a while for the players to adjust to... especially as he had no pre season to work with. Tough situation where he implemented a new game plan with no input into playing list and then is passed over when the lads are starting to buy in.

The Club must surely have their next coach in place and felt they had to move on him. If we opened up for applications I wld think prospective outside coaches would not be brave enough to throw their hat in the ring.

Your probably correct especially with Godden available being a former Wedt player but Coville has another year on his contract.

I wasn’t having a go CC at Sturt or Grima, just read he has no contract at Sturt
