TASMANIA ROLL SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Across the parking lot at Karen Rolton Oval, Tasmania’s seam-bowling convert Beau Webster (3-26) impressed with his medium pacers against South Australia as the hosts were bowled out for 195 after electing to bat.

Predominantly a spin-bowling all-rounder, Webster added seam bowling to his arsenal over the off-season, putting his 202cm frame to good use. It leaves him with a skill-set similar to that of former three-format star Andrew Symonds, who was a big hitter with the bat and bowled both seam and spin over the course of his career.

It has come in more than handy for Tasmania so far this season. In the team’s opening game Webster took 2-78, bowling Marnus Labuschagne with his pace and catching Michael Neser off his spin, and on Monday he finished with figures of 3-26.

The big hitting 26-year-old opened his account by taking Liam Scott’s edge thanks to the steepling bounce he extracted from the pitch, before bowling Chadd Sayers (30)and nicking off Kane Richardson (3).

Massive shout by Tassie the ball before when on 99, they though he was out caught behind off Webster. Just appealed and all ran in to bowler as if a formality. Travis did put his head down looking guilty, was typical terrible shot by him outside off stump!

Ferg copped a stinker, going down leg easily.

Amazing how one decision can change the whole game, him and Head were cruising.

Harry nearly caught at slip, did not quite carry, then out next ball. Always very suspect early to knicking up he is.

We have long tail with Sayers at 8!

Will lose for sure now!
