Elite ball getter, may burn it by foot at times, but every team would want him on their list.
Including Richmond.

Doesn't he coach a junior team at his grassroots club?

Dont agree with that, have listened to a couple of podcasts where he has totally opened up about his tough upbringing and challenges he has faced along the way, seems as genuine as you can get.

My ill informed view about compensation is if a club draft someone and they want to leave after the first contract, then you get a pick at the end of whatever round you picked that player

But if you resigned him to a second contract then he want to leave at the end of that then you get nothing, unless you work out trades after matching offers to restricted free agents.

If the player want to go after the 2nd contract then you need to look at your club and work out why they not staying rather than be rewarded.

so I don’t think the crows should get anything if they just let Brad Crouch go.

If Collingwood are so keen to get his salary out of their cap then they will have to take a discount in any trade negotiations also.

I hope we do. We need the midfield depth and someone like him would fit in nicely. Soft tissue injuries are a concern but given Collingwood will continue to pay for him, it's a risk I'd take!

If he's on the reported $900k at the back end Collingwood might pay $250-300k tops, you want to bring in a bloke who has several question marks for $600k per year?

We’ve freed up money from Simpson and Kruezer retiring and hopefully Murphy at the end of next year so money isn’t an issue.
Worth the risk I reckon if Collingwood pay circa 30% of his wage next year.

Saad will take every one of those available dollars.

If you move on McGovern as touted...

Jeff Kennett on SEN talking about the concept of Jack Gunston and or Isaac Smith leaving the Hawks.

"'I like the idea of players being one-club players, i think players should be greatly respected who chose to do that'

Jeff been unaware of the Hawks recruitment strategy for the past 10 years?!!

Burgoyne, McEvoy, Frawley, Lake, Gibson, Mitchell..... even Gunston himself!

I heard that interview and agree with your comments. The other contentious point is that he wants Gunston and Smith to be one club players, but they were happy for Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis to play out their careers at a second club. Club loyalty, so long as it fits into the salary cap.
