All they need is a decent ruckman

Cameron will be great but not sure adding more 30 year olds to a side that got run off the park by Richmond is a great plan

They need a key back IMO. Maybe they are just going to be a ridiculously high scoring team?

Has Poppa Taylor decided whether he's gonna clog the list for another year yet?

Surely your not clogging the list though if you are in the best 22 and playing well enough to keep others out the side.

Carlton have offered Zac Williams $900k x5 years. Between him and Saad that’s a fair bit of coin on a couple of HBF’s

It is but is that a bad thing in modern football. I know the old skool attitude is the key position players win you games of footy but to be honest I thought it was Richmonds run and ability to move the ball from defence that won them 2 of the finals.

Both their finals were played in wetter conditions and the like of Riewoldt, Lynch and even Nankervis were more looking to just make the contest and bring the ball to ground. Against Port don't think either tried to take a mark and were just looking to punch the ball on. You don't really need to earn $1million a year to do that.

Richmond are winning flags with Grimes and Vlaustin as their key defender positions who I wouldn't imagine are their big dollar earners at the club.

Even Charlie Dixon at Port is more about strength and making a contest than being an out and out star and they were able to make a prelim.

A bit harsh you could say that about half a dozen Port players in the prelim.

Played 19 games this season in a team that makes the GF suggests he still has a tad to offer.

If he wasn't getting a game collecting a pay packet towards his retirement at his age I would agree list clogging but being selected in your clubs best 22 prett much every week when fit surely cant be list clogging.

Key backs in Henderson and Taylor getting on. Give JJ a crack at fullback

Taylor will be 35 next season

I don't know about others but I have a lot of respect for Geelong.

Out of all clubs they have come the closest to breaking the AFL's 'template system'.

Imo they have played the modern day list management game the best out of any team in the AFL.

I beg to differ, the team wearing medals have done it the best, to lose a player of Rance's calibre unexpectedly and still win the flag is brilliant.

The core Geelong players are Geelong products IMO, Rohan and Dahlaus are hit and miss, Touhy and Henderson go alright, Dangerfield was always going to finish his career at Geelong, Stanley would be a huge tick if he could be on the park more and I the dude they picked up from St' Kilda went backwards in 2020.

Im more talking about the 'win a premiership' 'drop down the pecking order slowly' 'bottom out' 'get great draft picks' 'build back up.

Don't get me wrong Richmond have done well but lets not also forget their dynasty has been strongly based on great draft picks Martin, Cotchin, Reiwoldt, Vlaustin, Rance, were all top 20 draft picks.

Geelong had their premiership dynasty through great picks and father son picks but even since that period have never really bottomed out and have remained a genuine premiership contender. Not other team has done that. Hawks are mid table average, Brisbane were crap for a heap of years, Sydney are down at the bottom, Adelaide are long gone, West Coast hover but did win a spoon between premierships, Fremantle are now rubbish, GWS had the greatest leg up ever, Western Bulldogs were one year wonders, Port bottomed out, Collingwood had a recentish run of missing finals.

Your not meant to stay around the top 4 for 10 years, Geelong are somewhat defying that.

Geelong are just putting off the inevitable by topping up and avoiding playing youth

Much like his brother Chris will run when its time to rebuild
Dave Warner will be missed!

Its an interesting strategy, targeting players 30+ who want success and prepared to take unders to achieve it.

Could also argue that by having an experienced list they are more attuned to following game plans/strategy etc.
