A machine operator role has opened internally and I've applied for it, upper management thought it was a pisstake as it can be viewed as a backward step considering my current role but the earning potential is around $130K-$140K per year with a great opportunity to up that by another $20K within a year.
A lot of hours and rotating shifts are the negatives that I have to take into consideration, I've done my job for about 17 of the past 20 years so it's a big decision.
$$ isn't everything - gotta weigh it up against quality of life and how it's going to affect the other things you like doing in life, like spending time with the kiddies and umpiring etc..
I have no life anyway and I'll have normality every 2nd week, the weekends would be mammoth.
The kids are 25, almost 18 and 15.5, they are all pretty much self-sufficient anyway and I mainly see them on the weekends, the umpiring would go so I'd have to find another form of keeping fit.
The best thing about afternoon shift is that you can't spend money.
