SA Health is still a basket case

Nah, it was rubbish.
Basically an opinion piece from him trying to defend the journos hidden as a week in review.

Tom continues to push the theory that paying the workers more so they don't have second jobs would have solved the problem.
It wouldn't. As seen with this cluster, the majority of transmission has occurred at home, not at second jobs.
And if these people don't have second jobs, then they are spending that time out in the community at social outings (either public or private), once again, spreading the virus.

Asking the workers to go into their own lockdowns while not at work, and not socialise with anyone, is unreasonable.
Asking them not to work a second job, but allow social activity (which seems to be the line the journos are pushing) achieves nothing to minimise the risk of further transmission.

The key to stopping these clusters is to keep the disease in the medi-hotel in the first place!

I'm looking more at the gold star programme that didn't need to test the workers in the epicentre

Like not needing a personal radiation monitoring device in a nuclear facility

Parafield cluster jumps by 2 to 29.

SA Health have just revealed the 2 recent cases from returned travellers have the same strain of the virus as the parafield cluster.

So despite being in their own hotel quarantine, they have caught this strain, further suggesting the hotel isn't operating as it should and they have caught it from either The Spaniard, The Cleaner, or have been interacting with other guests.

No matter what the explanation is, it's a clear shortcoming of the system.

I'm somewhat hopeful its the third option, because if its one of the first two, you'd expect that to have occurred prior to Sunday 15th Nov, meaning todays confirmation is a long incubation period and there is a greater chance someone from the general public will test positive in the near future, restarting the entire over-reaction.

Ultimately this is it.

I'll, as I am, be glass half full and say better now than with 700 cases a day on our hands.

South Australian health authorities say another two coronavirus cases have now been linked to the Parafield cluster, hours after ruling out such a connection.

The cases — a couple — were previously identified as returned travellers, but have now been linked to the northern suburbs outbreak.

The pair returned from overseas on November 11 and have been quarantining in a medi-hotel.

One of the cases was reported earlier today and another on Sunday.

The case reported earlier — a man aged in his 20s — was earlier deemed to be "not associated with the Parafield cluster".

But in a later statement, SA Health said they have now been identified as having the same strain of the virus as the cluster.

"Genomic test results have returned this afternoon linking two people — one of which is today's case — to the Parafield cluster," the statement read.

"Both these people were previously believed to have overseas-acquired COVID-19 infections.

"There is no additional risk to the public as the cases are linked to a medi-hotel staff member who has previously tested positive for COVID-19 and contact tracing has already been undertaken."

It brings the total number of cases linked to the cluster to 29.

This latest development will now form part of a review into the operation of medi-hotels which is already underway.

So, this latest couple contracted the "parafield" strain while they were in a medi hotel. If that's the case, it could only have been Peppers and they could only have contracted from one of four .... the female who was returning from the UK (patient zero), the cleaner at Peppers or one of the two security guards at Peppers. Pretty poor quarantine set up if a guest can infect staff (cleaner/security) who then infect other guests.
