21 January 2021

Dear Member and Supporter

I am pleased to provide you with information about a proposed merger between the Adelaide Cricket Club (ACC) and the Southern District Cricket Club (SDCC).

A merger between the two clubs will provide the Adelaide Cricket Club with an unprecedented opportunity for members to drive the destiny of a new merged club, create financial sustainability and maximise financial support from SACA as we become the first movers in Premier Cricket club mergers.

Today’s announcement to our Life Members, playing and social members, and supporters is the culmination of months of discussions between the two clubs and is being recommended by The ACC Board and SDCC Management Committee.

Please read the prepared Information for Members, which should be read in conjunction with the FAQs.

Information Sessions for our members and supporters will be held at Glandore Clubrooms on:

Junior players and parents Wednesday 27 January at 6pm
Social members and supporters Thursday 28 January at 6pm
Senior players Thursday 28 January at 7:30pm

I would encourage you to attend these sessions if you have questions and require further information. You can find out more details on the merger visit www.adelaidecricketclub.org.au/ and click the ACC and SDCC propose merger tab.

Your ACC Board, together with the SDCC Management Committee will recommend a voluntary merger proposal to club members at Special General Meetings to be held at each of the clubs on 15 February 2021. Information on how you can vote will be emailed to you with the Notice of Special General Meeting.

Thank you in anticipation for your support of the proposed merger, we collectively have a wish to become the strongest Premier Cricket club in South Australia and a club of choice for male and female cricketers in southern Adelaide and the Fleurieu region.

Kind regards

Damien Kitto
President

Good on both clubs, its what SA Cricket needs.

New Darlington greenfield oval is interesting, not a lot of room there at the moment, apart from just north of the SEXY on Marion Road, would be pretty noisy spot for a cricket ground though. Marion would be perfect if they could take that facility over.

Does anybody know what will become of the new sports complex at Mt Barker? It's looking pretty impressive already with the white picket fence and goal posts up. Will the Mt Barker Football Club and Cricket Club take over and/or will the SANFL and SACA look to play some SANFL League and/or Premier Cricket games on it?

Could a club such as Sturt begin a junior program there similar to this merger proposal, where there are two lots of junior teams (city and hills based in this case). Or could Adelaide University be given the area to develop juniors?

Just seems too good a facility to not be utilised at the top state level, particularly in such a growing area a stones throw from other growing towns such as Nairne, Littlehampton and even Strathalbyn and Murray Bridge.

Could we see a similar facility down south, or is there already a similar facility being built in Aldinga, with the new high school, that could be better utilised by SACA and the Southern District Cricket Club? It looks like there will be new cricket nets built, along with soccer/hockey etc.

It seems to me the SACA are so hell-bent on merging clubs they might be missing out on opportunities to utilise some of these great new facilities being built in the outer regions to benefit the game of cricket in this state.

What's the reason 3rd & 4th canned? All Saturday ATCA still scheduled.

The new sports complex wont be the home of either Barker footy or Cricket clubs rather it will be used by all members of the various HFL and AEHCA clubs. It is going to be amazing though.

Weak as Pi55 decision. Only 40 over games anyway! So many young players playing Seniors  There would be just as many 16-17 year olds in 1st Grade around the clubs. We have two week bye next round so our lower grade players don’t play for a month, joke!

I’m old school but I agree a game of cricket is better than none
I have a son who plays first grade and he is keen to play and has no issues regards the temperature
Yet in our home comp called off already for Saturday and it may still be forecast under the 40 cut off

I think Col Waite and Nazar Reserve are both offering refunds for pre-purchased tickets.

How can you cancel it so far out? Most leagues just go on the 9am forecast that day? Thats ridiculous from SACA in whats meant to be the Premier competition in SA.
