Putting financials aside ( Adelaide's corporate and membership support will always have them financially sound ) the club hasn't been in worse shape culturally or on field in it's history. He's overseen the club's downfall to the point of a complete rebuild on and off field. I'm genuinely surprised you see his tenure as "very good".

He was there through the Walsh stuff, and part of the administration that led them to the GF and a couple AFLW flags.

I think the culture off field has probably always been shit, but well hidden from public view/knowledge. There were also cracks appearing before he came on board, but the camp fiasco definitely escalated everything and it blew up badly from there.

Equal to Port's couple of minor premierships :supz:

Not sure the CEO can take much blame for the football performance of the club, while it is the clubs core business he is really only responsible for employing the right people. Others have paid the price for the performance since 2017.

He does need to own the clubs public perception, financial performance and platform for the future. They have had to engage their bankers in 2020 to borrow their way through COVID so can only presume there is a heavy loss coming.

Agreed, and a 3 yo could make a profit at the Crows so there's probably not a lot else to judge him by.

I wouldn't mind the job this year, good for the cv if your company makes money and the football side of things can't go backwards.

This is a strange one as clubs making losses for 2020 will be pretty common. Normally the crows smash it financially and have for many years.

The issue I had with Fagan is that when coming here he truely believed he could control the narrative of anything at the club by feeding the info he wanted to select media.

That might have worked with Rugby Union at the Brumbies with the smaller market but was never going to work with the Crows and the AFL and size.

This also meant that the fans didn't get the transparency or the perceived transparency they wanted. The club's engagement with the fans and AFL public wasn't great and probably that's his major falling.

Such as?

I'm with Jim, though. I reckon the spoon's headed to Windy Hill or Arden Street this year.

The Crows lost some close ones last year. Reckon they might jag a couple this time and go 5-17.

Interesting tit bit this morning in the paper that I wasn't aware of. The AFL in essence will be appointing the next CEO.

"Under the terms of the Crow's constitution - quietly revised in 2014 - the AFL took effective control of the Adelaide board and became the club's ultimate authority.
The League appoints seven of Adelaide's nine directors and has sole voting rights on all matters at annual general meetings, other than the election of the two other members"

Sounds like they're no different to the GWS or Gold Coast. What a far cry from the club the SANFL created in 1990.

The poorly managed clubs will, the well managed unassisted clubs won't :D

Ive only seen Richmond & North who made a profit in 2020.

Crows have Nicks on their side though. He is a dud(Even at his worst pyke didn’t get close to getting them a spoon) And His last season as a senior coach Is coming up and the players know it imho

Can’t wait for the poems in Adelaidenow from the crows fans this season

We use to fly with pride and flight
Under the leadership of Malcolm blight
Pykey then left and not a Moment to soon
I bet hes pissing himself watching us Win a spoon
Our players are as useless as a bag of dicks
Due to the genius that is Matthew nicks
These times are tough but are made to bind us
I can’t believe our coach is worse than Matthew Primus

When I saw this I thought that you were going to tell us about the Advertiser's new page three girl.

Some would say it was brave of the Adelaide Football Club to review the camp, a proud day in the history of the club even.
