Don’t think so. Well known your President is up the asses of SACA hierarchy, all he wants is a spot on the SACA board in the not too distant future, pushing the merger (or takeover in Adelaide’s case!!) is earning him plenty of brownie points!
Think if it doesn't get up he's politically dead in the water

Put an administrator in to set up the right business model at the club.
They have to stay down this way, but need to mend some community club bridges they've previously burnt.
Adelaide moves down here.
Name change to South Adelaide CC.

Can any bright spark shed light as to why they've never tried to make the move to noarlunga?

What a horrible statement from the SACA, taking away grade cricket in the Southern area should be one of the last moves they consider in reducing teams. If they should be sending that message to anyone it should be for Adelaide to move down South.

They've had 25 years to make a sensible approach to saca to make the move happen.
Its a no-brainer to move there.
Its 2 minutes away. Still use bice for juniors c/d grade.
Turf net set up could happen at both grounds.

What club (if any) has Andrew Sinclair had an affiliation with in the past? The reason I ask is it seems an easy target to pick on SD when I wonder if he'd say the same things to 1 or 2 other clubs? Another example of someone living in SA over rating themselves!!

Played most or all his senior cricket at SPOC in the ATCA (was a very good bat) and was a former president of ATCA and helped get them out of significant financial trouble after a former General Manager had, I'll put this politely, mismanaged funds. Not sure of any district club connection prior to that but any would be minimal at best.

I wonder how receptive South Adelaide FC would be to that proposal? Would seem an advantage to have your home ground available all year round from a Footy point of view. I agree it would be ideal to have both Hickinbotham and an upgraded Bice as the two ovals, being so close together.

If Bice was done up nicely as they are saying they'd do with the merger - no reason why they couldn't keep that as the main ground if Hickinbotham not available. What of the new facilities being built at Aldinga? The new High School and new sports complex? Perhaps that could be used as a 2nd ground or even as the main training facility?

There is a fair bit of space around Noarlunga, get the government on board and make another oval and make it the real southern sporting hub, I can't see the footy club giving up the main ground over summer. With Cardijn next door Im sure there would be some synergies there also.

That was the original plan.....the land is all through there is owned by the office for Recreation and Sport. But I guess a change in government in the early 90's and with SA Government having no money at all put a stop to the grand plan.

I do understand the footy club not liking it.
But for them to stay there it might be the only option.
Last I heard cardijn have purchased some of that land for school extensions.

Wouldn't the best merger be between Glenelg and Southern District?
Adelaide should merge with Sturt where Price is used for As and Bs, Glandore Oval for Cs and Ds

Might of gone a bit tight going back to 8 clubs but still, better than the current set up.

I would've thought setting a team up in Strath and one at Gawler or the Barossa way would've been been a better path to follow but I can understand why merging existing clubs will still have history.
