Spot on. Amazing the same top 5 teams in both Grades, with Sturt 5th in A’s and Uni 5th in B’s.

Will be interesting what happens with Redbacks players this weekend, all teams heavily affected. They are due to play QLD up there from the Tuesday after Semi’s, so will they be available, when do they fly out? Will the COVID situation up there affect the game/location in anyway? Interesting week ahead. Thoughts Spider-Man??

Given the match starts on the Tuesday they may fly up on Sunday? Perhaps an evening flight so they play both days in the semis? Also, the next 1-dayer is on Sunday 28th so I suspect whoever makes the GF will be missing their players.

Good luck to all teams in the finals.
Obviously showing my bias (seems to happen after 40 years involvement in the club ;) ) but hoping the Eags can carry on their late-season form: unbeaten since Round 5 in the 1sts and since Round 6 in the 2nds.

University looking for their first 1st Grade Premiership since 1997/98. They have won 4 previously.

Kensington looking for 3-in-row, having won 17 all up.

Glenelg have won 6, previously winning in 2012/13.

West Torrens have won 15, previously winning in 2016/17.

For the record, East Torrens has won the most titles along with Kensington, 17, their last win was in 1990/91. Kensington was originally formed as an off shoot of East Torrens.

Not sure if Redback bowlers would be allowed to bowl in the Grade finals this weekend though, certainly not the pacemen anyway.

Bradman Medal limited to 7 per Club and stand up cocktail evening. Blaming costs. They charge Clubs for tickets anyway, bizarre decision.

Team of Year Prediction:

Bailey Capel (WT)
Will Bosisto (UNI)
Brad Davis (ST)
Sam Kerber (UNI)
Mark Cosgrove (ND)
Jake Brown (KENS) - Capt
Isaac Conway (PA) - W/K
Corey Kelly (ST) - A/R
Ben Turley (WOOD)
Max Parker (ST)
Lewis Hatchett (SD)
Joe Medew- Ewwn (PA)

All rounder was hardest to pick, had Daniel Drew (WT) in till last round but think Corey Kelly gets the spot now.

Looks like a pretty strong team there; one finalist without representation though. Was Glenelg's team performance more even throughout the year, with no one standing out?

Exactly BP. Glenelg have done an amazing job, looks like they have won the Club Championship, only Club with all four teams in finals. Leading batter was Ben Bullimore with 491 @ 61. And he did not have a great year by his standards, last two innings of 110 not out and 98 not out made it look better (was about 280 runs @ 35 before that which is average). Next was Winter with 330.

Bowling had Pudney with 20 wickets and Bowering 18, again way off the top guys. But they have different players step up at different times when needed, sign of a good team.

Kensington the same, only had Jake Brown in after the weekend, they would have had nobody either and probably the best team in the comp. Sturt have three, but rely on those players massively and struggle if they don’t perform.

Heard Ben Cameron quit as Sturt coach.

Apparently got quite emotional telling players, while some players were laughing in the corner. As was predicted when he took over, knows his stuff but way too intense, wears the players down and three years is plenty, players pretty relieved. Would be good job to get going forward.

Have heard the opposite from a few players for what it's worth. That they weren't quite sure initially due to the reasons you've mentioned but grew to really like him, saw that he was passionate and knowledgeable. Thought it was more that his role at SACA makes it difficult to fully commit to a grade club than wearing players down. Maybe others saw it differently. Pretty successful stints at TTG and now Sturt overall

Gregory and O'Connell leaving hurt them. Effectively lose 3.5 absolute standout players. Hanno Jacobs looked promising too.

The SACA role is the main reason he is moving on, but spoke to several players who were leaving if he was still coaching them next year. No doubt is a good coach and very knowledgeable, but timing is right for a change.

Letter to the Editor in the Advertiser today from one Denis Brien, talking about the number of clubs.

The sign off:

Maybe the SACA board should look at possibilities other than the number of clubs, for the recent failures. For example, its high-performance department.
