Round 1 - I try to get out but they pull me back in

Postby Rik E Boy » Wed Mar 17, 2021 4:35 pm

Greetings sports fans and welcome to another season of the Hogg Shield. Such an important round this one as we all try to nail those all important rookie ins for the first round. So far things looking good for -

Henry (FWD)- Col
Campbell (FWD/MID)- Syd
Scott (FWD/MID)- WBD
Gulden (MID) - Syd
Bruhn (MID) - GWS
Flynn (RUK) - GWS
Hunter (RUK) - St K
Clark (MID/DEF) - Geel
Koshitzke (DEF) - Haw
Brockman (MID/FWD) - Haw
McDonald (FWD) - Syd

But you'll have to keep your eyes out for any more info over the day before the annual underwhelming Carlton v Tigers kickoff.

How have you gone picking Bulldogs players.

I actually see them as a premiership smokey and a high scoring team in supercoach.

I really want Macrae but cant bring myself to pick him when he will have the likes of Bontempelli, Treloar, Daniels, Dunkley, Hunter all scoring pretty well.

Do H2H's start straight away like last year, or are the first few rounds scoring only as it previously used to be?

Went the Bont after he absolutely smacked me last season. Even worse I committed the cardinal sin of rage trading him early. Daniel always a good selection but the jury must be out on McRae, Treloar and particularly Dunkley who is now likely to be parked in the forward line this year. I think you've forgotten one in Libba who also scores quite well. The Bulldogs are a bit like Geelong in that if allowed to play they can be very destructive but they aren't as good when locked down.

Good call.

Interestingly I have struggled to fit players in from Richmond, Geelong and Bulldogs due to the well balanced nature of their teams. Only player I have from either of them teams is Tom Stewart. Want to select Danger but just cant see him playing as much game time as he has previously and I believe his entire season will be designed around peaking in September even if that means he has to have less game time at selected points throughout the year.

I reckon Macrae goes real big this year with the reduced interchanges and longer games, he's an elite runner, massive tank, he wont be coming off the ground much.
Theres a few more of that type that i have honed in on too

Happy with the start from Docherty and Dow given their price.

Missed out on having Martin though :(

Was going to go Danger but baulked as I reckon he might be managed a bit this season. Cameron out this week pretty much confirmed it. Love ya Paddy but upgrade target for me for later in the year.

Had Dusty, Dow and Short. Dow has no tank, disappeared after half time. Would have liked 80 after racking up 50 in the first half. 59 is a rookie score and 200k is an expensive rook. Needs to do more.

First (no doubt not the last) error of the season.....getting the C and VC confused and putting the C (supposed to be VC) on Grundy

He sat on mine while Lazzaro managed 3 on the field.

I stuffed up the captaincy as I had the VC on Martin, I changed it to Neale, I had Flynn then swapped him with Meek after the commentators on triple M were flogging him off. Ziebell and Rowe occupied my bench to.

Lazzaro 3
Rowell 6
Brockman 22
Tyson 29
Meek 43
Kozzie 53
Daniher 54
Highmore 60

All were on my field, I'll be swinging the axe this week already.

F*** I hate round 1 and the team lists, they should name their 25's by Thursday night.

My worst first round in many year scoring 1890.

Not end of the world stuff though......I think I really got my rookies right having:

-Highmore
-Campbell
-Powell
-Gulden
-Jordon
-Scott
-Rowe
-Warner

Got a few of mid range players right
-Ziebell
-J.Clarke
-Dow
-Fantasia

My premiums in Neale, Steele, De Goey, Gawn, Grundy was what cost me.

Will burn 2 trade this week:

Rowell - Martin
Daniher- Impey (I need to do this to afford Martin)
