AFL 2021

Talk on the national game

What happens if a player is tackled and cops a head knock is ok, but is subbed out as a medical sub so the club can play a better fit player for that match. The tackler goes to the tribunal and cops more games because of the fact the player was subbed out, then a week later he's miraculously better?

Sounds like it was a directive from the coaches and HQ said 'that's a good idea....'

Ultimately every club has the opportunity to manipulate it, some will use it better than others but all in all everyone can do with it as they please.

The rule itself isn't really an issue for mine but changing the rules the day before round 1 is the biggest load of bollocks that only the AFL is capable of producing.

Starting to wonder if this is a smoke screen for the 'stand' rule...now everyone has forgotten about that.

When will it end? Its one sub now, then it will be two, before you know we'll have the whole list on the sidelines ready to go like Gridiron. The warm up will become bigger than the game

Hocking said tonight that this rule will help with the players health & welfare - how the hell does it do that? It helps the coaches, thats all.

So that's all you need to know right there. They've convinced themselves that it's for player welfare, which is priority numero uno in AFL at the moment (remembering they don't want to be sued by ex players later in life). They don't care for how it's going to be ruled/interpreted and manipulated by coaches.

Only us nuffties think about those things.

Ratten on Ryder: "We're in contact with Paddy every day... he's got stuff he's sending to our fitness staff, he's running around 10-12km every second or third day, he's been in the gym.

"He's doing a lot away from the club which will help him get back as quickly as he can."

Doesn't sound like a work load that will have him back real soon. All the best to Paddy.

As someone who attends zero matches a year can we please get Monday Night Football back.

Nothing beats heading to work on a Monday knowing you got some footy to watch that night, $5 punt, a couple of fantasy players playing and a beer to go down with a nice dinner.

I like your optimism mate but I reckon the swans themselves would only have him pencilled in for half a dozen games.

Yeah it’s hard to have any faith in his body holding up, but still hoping pretty hard by some miracle it does. With the game appearing to find a bit more space in the current climate imagine how much the old Buddy would thrive.
