That's what I thought he'd get but was expecting a reduction for a good record to bring it down to 2?
Doesn't that happen these days or is he not eligible for it?

He has been suspended before, so his record is not that good. I don't think you get discounts for early pleas and clean records any more.

His lawyer's argument was only that the head contact was heavy not severe (whilst the actual bump may have been severe).
Makes sense as you'd think if two heads hit each other with severe contact they would have both been knocked out.
Tribunal disagreed saying it was severe so the penalty makes sense and my daughter tells me if it goes to tribunal you can't get games taken off for a good record so that makes sense too.

3 is about right

In saying that I do have more concerns with the intentional elbow to the head in the Carlton Richmond game.

Wasn't it just a tricep? (Or am I thinking of a different incident)

I haven’t seen it slowed down but whatever it was it was a deliberate ‘strike’ (non footballing act) to the head which in my opinion is equally as bad as Dangerfields accidental head clash, especially if the AFL is serious about protecting the head.

Must be a completely different one to what I was thinking of then, the tricep I saw should have resulted in a free or 50m to the player who threw it as the other player shouldn't have been scragging him.
I think it was David Astbury on Plowman. Got a fine but shouldn't have even got that.

That's the one .... he would have got a 50m penalty if he didn't lash out with his elbow. He was lucky he didn't make contact with the elbow. Penalise the action .... it was dangerous.

After 18 months without footy North Melbourne have 12,000 show up to their first home game.

That has to be a worry

Melbourne are in the same boat I should add, 21,000 on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the G when there's been nothing for 18 months.

Perhaps Melbournians are a bit gun shy, not wanting to be in amongst a crowd just yet?

Melbourne is very much hurting and apart from the MCG blockbusters I dont expect there to be huge crowds anywhere for a while.

Compared to Hawks/Essendon who only drew 25k it compares very well.

People finding other interests and ways to spend money.

Will be interesting to see if there is a global trend around crowd numbers once all sports are back allowing it eg EPL, NBA, AFL.

That was the capacity, wasn't it? That's why Essendon tried getting it moved to the G yeah?
