Mr Fuller wrote:Good to get the win. I’ll take the points but this wind was certainly nothing to get excited about. A couple of my observations:

1. Our defence was absolutely terrific. The amount of pressure they withstood in the last half was terrific. Glad to see Rowland awarded the medal for his game. Too often the contribution of defenders is overlooked by neutral commentators in favour of midfielders who accumulate more of the ball. Rowland well deserved but thought Giuffreda and Thompson also played superb games.

2. We are not playing footy that will win us a premiership. Our movement forward has been diabolical all season to date with the way we are bombing it in. In previous seasons this hasn’t been so much an issue with Jack and Nick Hayes there who could clunk a big contested mark. But with Hayes spending so much more time in the ruck this season we have lacked a tall presence there so this style does not work. We have replaced them with the mid-sized Menzels who can’t do this and are more opportunists or mark-on-a-lead players. Our midfield and wingers need to adjust to this and start kicking to their advantage.

3. On the Menzels…..not sure whether it is their leading patterns or not but when they do get the ball they seem to be having shots from the pockets. Makes it much harder to kick goals.

4. Riley Knight – continued his terrific season and would be vying with Hayes as our B&F this year to date. He will also give the Magarey a genuine shake which is great to see as we haven’t really had any serious contenders in the last few years.

5. Von Bertouch – needs to have a blowtorch applied to him. Pretty much since mid-last year he has been coasting. Every so often he takes a great contested grab and has the capacity to do this regularly but his work-rate is well down. Watching him on Sunday when he was stationed at CHF he just seems to be jogging around at half pace or standing flat footed not presenting as a target. He needs to be busting a gut leading up and making more contests because he is one of the few we have up forward with height. He will stay in the team so long as Redden is finding fitness and form in the reserves because we need him to support Hayes in the ruck but when the time comes to consider Redden in the team then the Coach will have a big call to make because the risk is we might be too top heavy and slow playing both Von Bertouch and Redden.

6. North – a very good team and I feel they will definitely be around the mark come finals time. The move of Keenan Ramsay to defence looks to be a masterstroke. Both him and Tanner Smith absolutely monstered our forwards marking it every time we went forward.

Have to agree with the entry into the eagles forward line no Redden no Hayes to take the big high flying mark .
Next time hopefully a team floods the eagles forward line the eagles do some short passes and not bomb it to opposition players

This came up on my Facebook page

Following the Eagles WWTFC victory yesterday, here's a few fun facts:

• Inclusive of West Torrens, it's just the 2nd time in club history that the Eagles have won the ANZAC Day clash as Reigning Premier... the other being vs Port Adelaide in 1994

• 3 points, win or loss, is the closest ANZAC Day margin for the Eagles

• WWTFC have won by 3 points overall 13 times... It's the 3rd time the Eagles have beaten North Adelaide by 3 points, and 5th time by 6 points or less

• 3 points is the closest margin, win or loss, for coach Jade Sheedy since taking the reigns at the Eagles at the start of 2020

• WWTFC has played North Adelaide more than any other club in its 30 year (and 4 round) history - 88 times (W58, L30)

Was working all day mate, sorry. Working all day today too, first public holidays I've worked for years!
Can't turn down $60 ph for watching footy, races and chatting to people. 8)

Got this coming Saturday off so could compile you a report for our next one, probably be pretty ordinary though as I'm going to the President's Lunch which includes all you can drink. ;)

Good to see you taking an interest in your local team though, could see you in the Eagles cheer squad. :)

Sorry mate.

Got to work about 11.30am.
Had about 20 guys in for the UFC.
During the afternoon a few regulars meandered in after attending various Anzac events. Watched the Hawks beat the Crows, Essendon beat Collingwood and Port slaughter St Kilda
Watched a few decent races.
Took a few bets, served a few beers.
Knocked off early at 8.15pm.
Caught an Uber to the Ark at 8.30pm.
Got home 3.15am.
Woke up 11am, showered and went to work.
Currently have 13 regulars here and I'm on my 2nd litre of coconut water and still can't find a panadol anywhere.

There ya go mate, a report from a North Lad. ;)

Excellent report. Good punctuation, well thought out, really interesting. B+.

Any North people who WERE at Woodville who DID witness the incident mentioned above have anything to report on THAT incident?

That’s funny a few weeks back a bays poster said I’m an eagles fan who only posts when they win ,
Seems that it’s spread to a few or a majority of north fans after this loss .

I just watched a replay of Eagles Vs NA. Pity "commentator" Darren Jarman doesn't know that he is there to report the game and not barrack. Also that Jack (No 12) Hayes' brother Nick played footy in Victoria yesterday, and given 3 picks he couldn't get the Bob Quinn Medalist in his list.

From what was heard during yesterday’s scuffle the North “fans” have a very limited vocabulary. Especially the bearded one and his mate still wearing the North guernsey from the 80’s.

Objectively speaking, a great Anzac day game that went right down to the wire. North had their chances to ice the game in the last, and credit to the Eagles for holding on against the wind, Sinor jagging a pressure goal, and then holding North out until the final siren. Disappointed that we didn't jag it, though - thought Barns could've passed to an unmanned player in the forward pocket with a better chance of scoring a goal instead of taking the longer shot. Oh well.

I reckon North'll need to win its next four to retain contact with the top 5 and remain a credible force in the comp, and I think it's doable. This week's game against the Bays is a must win, should be a bobby dazzler at Prospect. Eagles will be there at the pointy end, looking forward the return bout later in the season.

It's a pity that there's fisticuffs after a game, it's not warranted, and disappointed that its a supporter from my club. SANFL footy can't afford that kind of nonsense. Dunno if its the same liquored and lippy guy I sat near last year near the old scoreboard at the corresponding game, but if so, then I'm not surprised.

Are you referring to the digital pass? I'll give you one more pick to get the "commentator" correct.
