Had another good ( but not great) week so now up to 288th overall! The Powell to Kelly trade looks good so far, along with my other recent upgrades of Zorko and TMcdonald (but not Whitfield).

This week planning to turn Bergman and Scott into Dusty unless injuries I don't know about yet get in the way.

That leaves just 2 more upgrades to go which might be doable before byes.

Feeling confident I might finish top 100 as I guess most other teams aren't this complete yet

Nice work mate, you're far more advanced than I am, have you thought about creating a new team now to try and have a crack at the weekly prize?

I don't think there'd be much point to that, a new team created now that maximised good players for a particular bye round wouldn't be much better than some of the top teams in that round now due to lack of cash generation.

If you wanted to do this strategy you'd have to start it at the beginning of the season and generate cash from rookies to get enough premiums for that round. I suspect some people are playing this game.

The Ecky Show rolled into an seventh successive win as the Fevs cleaned up quality opposition Inner Sanctum. Even though Ecky is on fire this season, they didn't top the league in scoring as that honour went to Has Been who smashed an unlucky Hips Don't Lie who scored well enough to beat several teams in the league this week but copped the Beaners in full flight. Wycbloods weren't amongst the big scorers this week but ironically enough, got the job done against battling Poon. Bloods was overdue for a win and now there are a few of us down there in the same boat.

FISH won a tight battle over Hondo and other teams doing well this season in Watts & Motts ended Delicious' unbeaten run while Q Before You got the four points in a regulation win over the REBCats who are a man short at the moment against the big boys. The Sharks and the Captain managed to secure a spot in the top eight while Mediocre at Best managed to win in fine style over Richo to keep the heat on the top eight.

The relegation battle has about five contenders from my mob on down. Hippys need to open their account soon or it might need a brilliant run home to escape their fate. Roosters are really struggling to score and that needs to change for them to remain in the top flight. Richo has certainly lost that winning feeling this year and the annual Ippy Derby between the old firm REBCats and Poon may very well be for survival this year. I hope that's not the case as Hambone is something of a byes specialist so I better get moving.

Another big rise in the rankings up to 138th! Could have been better but wasn't willing to risks subs Highmore or Bergman as captain to loop Oliver's VC so had to settle with Grundy as C as everyone else was playing.

First trade thought is to dump Bergman and Mccreery for Heeney leaving Jordan as only rookie on field and I can bench loop him Friday night

Only 2 teams above me have higher team value and with plenty of trades left (14) have the luxury of some sidewaysish trades over byes so finally have a realistic chance of finishing top 10.

Until my more unique players all get injured next week. Would be great though if some common players got injured as I think I'm in a better position than most to deal with it.

Hogg Premier has never really had a dynasty before but the red hot form of Ecky's Fevolas is rapidly approaching dynasty like proportions. Ecky was one of the leading teams last year and they eventually prevailed in the Grand Final. This year Ecky stands alone and the rest of us Premier League coaches must be wondering how we can stop his blistering run. Another big score this week by Ecky but he wasn't on his own this round. Summer of George has awoken from their slumber to clamber into the eight on the back of a solid 2457. Second ranked FISH also got 2400 as the majority of Premier League coaches managed to cash in on the scoring bonanza that was round eight of SuperCoach.

The top five sides have snuck away from the pack with Watts & Motts in a rare position of being able to afford a loss to Wycbloods who were overdue to claim a scalp as the table does not flatter them at all. Everyone down to Richo is in a massive traffic jam although my REBCats and RIcho are badly in need of a win. Roosters got an important victory on the weekend after they upset the applecart and Inner Sanctum with a four point thriller. One thing that really blows is when you get a good score and get done and the stiffest team this week is Has Been carded 2328 but got reeled in by FISH. Hippy is in deep diggeery doo now after losing his 8th on the spin but the question we are asking at this point is how do we stop Ecky? Perhaps it's time to get the popcorn out and just enjoy the show. By the way Poon won but I've already heard enough about that so lets all move on shall we.

You definitely all still have a chance as if I'm say around 50th with a few rounds to go I'll be doing some silly "unique" things in a desperate attempt to catch the leaders, so I'll probably run out of trades and could easily post some crap scores.

New recruit Heeney has almost won me the game off his own boot - just need 125 combined from Brayshaw and Cerra and I'm home

89th for the round and up to 50th overall, 200 pts closer to the lead. And that was with Grundy captain! I continue to get lucky with my traded in players, Heeney this week.

I have a higher team value than every team above me, so am a realistic chance to win with the right moves and luck.

This week look like I'll finally cash in Flynn and then upgrade Impey to a top midfielder. Then maybe a Grundy trade if necessary.

Very pleased to hear Grundy is out for 2-3, keeps people distracted from upgrading which is what I need to keep gaining on the leaders, especially now when I've reached the stage where I can't upgrade much more (I'll be sort of complete this week)

best scenario is injuries to common players I don't have
next best scenario is injuries to players all the leaders have

The battle for who is going to come second in this years Premier League competition entered its ninth week of competition as Manchester City Lewis Hamilton Novak Jokovic United, aka Eckys Fevolas, cruised home for their ninth win on the spin. While Ecky racks up 2400s for fun, he might not be alone in this particular pursuit as the Summer of George is also firing up like a Chernobyl barbeque in recent weeks and topped the scoring with 2467, smashing Eckys meagre 2464 in the process.

That kind of close number was in evidence this week for teams with more of an interest in saving our arses. Much to the abject dismay of fellow bottom four coaches, Roosters have won another nailbiter, this time over Hondo by five points. You bastard Chook! Poor old Richo had a close result but he got done. It is turnarounds like that that decide the future of coaches as we all wonder where our next win is coming from down there.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the eight is all but decided in premier with six sides looking certainties for the top eight. Outside of the top eight Wycbloods have been solid and Mediocre is competing strongly. Hondo has dropped a couple of matches to duds like me that won't help his cause and Has Been doesn't appear to have luck on his side so far this season. The Captain and Sanctum look ok to complete the set so it will be interesting to see what happens over the bye period.

Good luck to everyone except Ecky LOL.

Well my run of good fortune has finally come to an end and barring a miracle I'm going to be trounced by Summer or George.

Heeney, Warner and Butts my main culprits.

Re: Hogg Premier League 2021

Not my best round, moved up 7 spots to 43rd, but lost some ground on the leaders, mainly because of midfield premos that I don't have doing well (Bont, Parish, Steele, Walsh, Petracca), rather than any of my players letting me down.

The extra trades and bye changes haven't worked in my favour - I'm going to struggle to get 18 good players in round 14 unless I "waste" some sideways trades, while others will be doing more conventional upgrades to get to 18, and hence can make better use of the extra trades.

So for the first time in quite a few weeks, my chances of winning the comp have gone down this week, I'd guess maybe 30/1 when I'd have put myself at 20/1 last week. I still have the highest team value of anyone in the top 50, but really need some good luck (injury to Steele maybe please?) to bring me up to the top few teams.

As for this week, still lots of options on the table for trading, but all with an eye on maximising my r14 premos on field without butchering my team and my uniqueness from the top teams, and will depend a lot on when Dangerfield is back (keen to get him in before the masses) and whether Zorko challenges his suspension.

The bye rounds can be quite difficult to navigate for top sides as matches they would normally pencil in as wins become a banana skin. Such was the situation for top four Watts and Motts who would normally have had little difficulty putting away relegation straggler REBCats. It is history now that the Cats were well set up for this week while Motts wasn't so Watts copped a loss that saw them lose touch with the mighty Ecky who ho hum won again. FISH was another top side not record a win but a loss to Summer of George is not exactly a boilover as they have been in fine form in recent weeks and they are certainly a side that Delicious and Watts should watch out for in the top four battle this season.

Inner Sanctum had a crunching victory over Poon who took his best swing and missed by miles. Wycbloods solid scoring is now being rewarded and they clambered into the top eight at the Captain's expense with the Captain looking a bit ordinary in the scoring stakes a bit this year. Sharks and Has Been managed to record important wins to keep themselves relevant but Hondo's malaise continued and they are only one game ahead of the relegation scrap now and that would be a new thing for Hondo's boys.

Speaking of relegation, Hippy is still to record a win this year but they are hanging in there while most of us fellow battlers wish he'd just walk LOL. Richo Richo, like the REBCats, scored a vital win but they remain in the bottom two even though Poony and the Roosters got done. Reckon Hippy is gone but the jury is well and truly out on who the other one is and that has to worry everyone from Has Been down on the ladder. Stressful times the next two weeks!

regards,

REB

Ecky wrote:Not my best round, moved up 7 spots to 43rd, but lost some ground on the leaders, mainly because of midfield premos that I don't have doing well (Bont, Parish, Steele, Walsh, Petracca), rather than any of my players letting me down.

Hopefully all the challengers are also screwed in round 14, but having said that everyone who you can get on the ground (up to the 18) will have all their points contribute to their score so it might be worth "wasting" the two extra trades we've been gifted.
