R8 South v Centrals Saturday 1410

Postby DOC » Thu May 27, 2021 4:04 pm

South last week were terrible. Actually they were not that good.

Centrals last week were terrific against Sturt. Too tall and too quick. Yep. You had a taller team than Sturt. You just don't see their supporters go on about it. Actually you don't see their supporters go on about anything.

I am expecting a good crowd for this one at "Elizabeth by the sea" and South look set to welcome back Heaslip and O'Neil for the injured Kappler and Wilkinson.

South by a point.

Central's last win against South at Noarlunga was Round 19 in season 2015.

That was essentially a mini Elimination Final / Qualifying Final with the victor going through to finals and curtains on the year for the defeated.

Central got off to a fast start that game, then South came back at them, but the Dogs hung on on got through.

Current Central coach Paul Thomas was BOG while Caleb Edmead kicked 4 goals for the winners.

South's best that day is now playing reserves at the Redlegs, in Emmanuel Irra, while Sam Overal kicked 4 for the Panthers.

Should they win on Saturday, it would mark exactly 2,100 days since Central District last tasted victory at Flinders Uni Stadium.

As was the case last week for Central with their Unley Oval hoodoo, records are there to be broken.

Not sure Sam Overall will play for South?

Centrals have the better form coming in and beat South in a trial game.
I expect South to respond after last week but it sure won't be easy.
Meeting up with a Centrals mate so this should be fun.
Panthers by 7 points.

Hopefully i will be wrong but cant see us getting close today. We did win the trial but South had 4 or 5 of their best players out and trial game form generally means nothing.South have class all over the ground and are highly unlikely to lose 2 in a row at Noarlunga.

Agree South will win easily.
Presbury out and Nason in doesn't help.

I actually thought we were okay today. Hoskin and Presbury would have made a bit of a difference. South made a lot of skill errors in defence early which helped keep us in it.

South 17.10(112)
Dogs 12.12(84)

I thought our defence got out marked to easily All day.

Llewellyn Hoskin and Pres back next week

Nason Kelly Olsen Morton should be looking over their shoulders after today’s performance.

Eight goals to two from time on in the third to handshakes, all of those from different boots. Seems to me that South got their shit together and our blokes were playing a losing game of whack-a mole.
