What a load of piffle, you don't know the intimate details of selection. One coach/ selector is regularly at second grade matches, and another coach/selector plays third grade, the first three grades well covered. You are talking cow manure.

Still mostly all locals though? I can only think Gibson and Lindsay Buckingham as the "outsiders"

Who are WT poaching? Players are returning to their original club and they have put in the work to recruit some decent interstaters....the young guys you mention have the chance to play with and learn from some very good cricketers, better than having to go in at 5/70 consistently. Kelvin, Johnson, Drew, Renshaw, Williams etc all benefited in their early years of 1st and 2nd grade training and playing around players like George, Ferguson, Blizzard, Crosthwaite, Cullen, J Smith and Kelly - had to earn their spot and a few years later led them to a triple premiership. Others took off thinking they were entitled to a 1st grade spot - you can argue whether those players made the right call or not but the guys who stayed and earnt their stripes certainly got the return.

Apology accepted. Forgot to mention Brad Young also comes out and gives specialised training during the week.

I see Ben Pengelly has been playing for Unley Jets. Is this who you are talking about? Only guessing.

Chatting to him, chose WT because of the first-class training facilities and coaching, positive and welcoming club culture and hard-working volunteer officials who went the extra yard to get him. Will also get plenty of bowling with the quick bowling stocks a bit thin at WT with Spencer Johnson the only first grade regular at present.

Buckingham had 11 clubs ring him (not sure which two didn’t  ), with Weaver from TTG and Sturt the keenest, but as Wedgetail mentioned above he chose WT for those reasons.

As for a few tongue in cheek digs calling us Uni etc, should be pointed out we have chased nobody besides Buckingham, the others have all come to us. We have had to say no to three of them as could not fit them in!

McAndrew the main one, he was keen to bat four for whoever he plays for, and although we tried to convince him all our star batters would hardly ever be all available at the same time, he has ended up at Woodville. He will bat four there, and their bowling will be very strong with him, Sayers, Turley and Pinson.

Heard McSweeney gone to Glenelg. Not sure on where Doggett and Carder have gone.

West Torrens have recruited ONE interstate player, had one player returning to his original club from interstate and one player returning to his original club from another club. They have not gained any player from another SA club who wasn't originally a WT player. Very interesting interpretation of POACHING

What would your best XI be at full strength?

Gibson
Capel
Smith
Drew
Ferguson
Nielsen
Richardson
Short (Sibley? Fisher?)
Buckingham
Johnson
Slee or Hunt

Are Nielsen and Smith definitely back?

Pretty strong line up

It is a shame that district clubs lose such players for a third of the season to the BBL.

Agreed TC - very good line up. One of the teams to beat this season. Although some teams may be a chance against them when the BBL is on - they would lose Gibson, Richardson, Neilsen, Johnson(?) out of that lineup (and possibly Ferguson and maybe Smith as injury cover/replacement players for a BBL team?).

This is correct was announced at Glenelg last week I believe.
actually nice to see the Redback recruits head west of the city for a change and not go to Univeristy and Kensington who have had a mortgage on them for the last 10 years

Trent Kelly and Wes Thomas - both former premiership players also added to an already strong coaching panel including Hags and Brad Young.

Could be a conflict of interest coaching at a club and overseeing pitches/grounds for Trent?

No different to Jake Brown doing the Kensi pitch. TK would be professional and have enough pride in his work to not do anything untoward.
