No for MP, which is why the build doesn't include unisex changerooms, just "home" and "away".

They might regret that going forward. These days you'd have to cater for both I would've thought.

Hmmm, I actually think it'll be the opposite. They're just changerooms, nothing precluding the female footballers using them when appropriate, they're just not dedicated. Also need to keep in mind the MP netball club want to come home - they're at SUNA - and would also make use of them

Wouldn't that be a further case for unisex changerooms...…..in particular the important of enclosed toilet cubicles within the changerooms.

Also thinking for future grant opportunities it would be invaluable to be able to write that you have dedicated changing facilities for all users of the facility.

They're just changerooms. Put whatever label on them you like. They can be used by whoever

Very shortsited if you don't think females have different needs to males when it comes to changerooms.

Actually surprised a Council would approve a development these days that doesn't include uni sex changerooms, I know up here its a mandatory spec that would expect if they are going to contribute to funding to such a project.

Also would have to think the facilities on offer will work against you when eventually you try and attract a female team, especially if neighbouring clubs have better female facilities.

Issue isn't just unisex but sharing in back to back timeslots. On Sundays especially used to have an issue with juniors / women sharing the same rooms which gets pretty awkward. The morphie parks new rooms have 2 big rooms but you can partition into 4 if required.

They probably are to spec for Unisex, but not specifically named like that. Again, the netballers will use them. There's two changerooms that would be able to be used by all, not two "standard" changerooms + a unisex changeroom - if that makes more sense.

My personal thinking is that women's AFL has maybe hit it's peak and will either plateau or diminish from here. We're focused on getting the foundations right as a football club before starting to dream about womens teams and asking for infrastructure to support. We're light years away from that discussion.

That's a very interesting opinion.

In the AdFL last season they increased their numbers to 43 teams across the six women's divisions, this year they increased that to 53 teams across eight divisions and there have only been a couple of forfeits and that they were logistical problems for the timeslots.

The standard has increased and most teams have healthy bench numbers, the grading is pretty close to being spot on too.

Not sure morell has seen the number of girls getting around SANFL jnrs at the moment - seems to be growing every season, cant see women's footy dropping away anytime soon.

The juniors point is what gets me.

Even just being around town in winter you seems to see as many young girls in footy socks and shorts and a club jacket/hoody on a sunday morning as you do young boys

Something would have to go very wrong for women's footy to not be much larger than it is now in a decade.

I more meant at the local level rather than broadly, but, we'll see. I think quite a few would be surprised by what the non anecdotal data says.

Netball is the biggest sport in the South and growing - and by some way. But team sport is really struggling across the board.

This statement not quite accurate.
We have 4 full size change rooms each with 4 showers and 3 toilets. Two of the four also have two ice baths.
Changerooms 1 and 2 can be combined by opening a roller door, as can 3 and 4.
The whole build was done as unisex.
Fair to say 1 change room and amenities is bigger than our old change room set up combined.
Very happy with the current set up - got great bang for the buck.

Hoping all the clubs end up with builds like ours.

Except hopefully all the other clubs have enough money leftover for a home interchange bench..
